My office is dark and messy and has taxidermy. I think it looks more like the den of an animal or perhaps a family of chainsaw killers than it does an office, but it works for me.
In my office there's two feet of junk (mostly old video games, books, cds, and randon crap) covering every inch of the floor except for a path from my door to my computer chair. I have a big ass desk with my computer and monitor on it, which is also covered in a layer of junk. I've got a big book case on either side of the desk covered in more junk, a second desk off to the side with an older desktop I don't use, a laptop on a cart off to the side that I rarely use, and a closet full of more junk. One of these days I'm going to move all of these distractions out of my office, but every time I do, the piles seem to reaccumulate after a month or so.
I do songwriting, recording, etc also. Plus I run a little radio show from time to time. There are two phones for two different lines there, one for business stuff one for home line. Then a mic preamp and a mixer. Wire runnin up there is firewire that I plug my camera into. Have it all mounted on a board to free up desk space and keep everything neat.
Have a bunch of plans for my desk yet. Doing either faux marble top, or a thin marble top on it, and redoing all the edges of the workstation with cherry trim. I would just go buy a new desk but this one is setup exactly how I want it, and is rock solid. It has dual 21" monitors on it that weigh like 80lbs each, and I can stand on it too and it doesnt budge. Going to make a foot rest/wire cover around the bottom of the desk. Will look quite different once Im completly done with it.
i thought there might be some audio stuff going on but i couldn't tell. what software do you use for recording?
cool stuff. sounds to me like you have the desk you need.
