I mention something in one of my posts about "forcing yourself into a cubbyhole" -- when you earn 100% of your money in this business from one project/asset or stick to one line of revenue that's what you are doing.
Use the breadth of opportunities on the internet to leverage your time, efforts and ideas. Some ideas will make more $$$ than others but the lessons you learn and experience you get from all that launching of ideas/sites will help you fine-tune future ideas - and increase your income over time. And your income will be nicely diversified.
BTW will76,

are you talking as far as attracting the Google Gorilla's search engine traffic?
I think whatever the answer is, it's a better business decision in the long run to have your blog on your own domain. The domain will go up in value as your blog gets se traffic and bookmarkers and you will own 100% of it rather than being blogspot's bitch
anyone else, feel free to give their opinion too

Alex,
I get an error message when going to:

This either means that the username and password information in your file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at localhost.
Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?Comment

I saw your other thread about trading links. I'd love to get in on it, but I'm so damn pussy whipped by the target=blank tag that I can't even imagine building sites that I want stickiness that let outside links go in the same window.... makes me shiver even thinking about it! For anyone who doesn't mind their link opening in a new window... I'm open for trades.
I dont think your blogs suck.
That spoiledrich.com domain name is screaming to be branded. Right now you have Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.
Here is a quick brainstorm idea in regards to Branding for your site.
Aim to have people typing in your brandname + what they are looking for in the search engines. What I mean is if you branded your paris hilton section "SpoiledRich: Paris Hilton" and your other section "SpoiledRich: Lindsay Lohan" then you might start getting people searching for SpoiledRich Britney Spears.
What another way to brand?
try using subdomains:
http://parishilton.spoiledrich.com
http://lindsaylohan.spoiledrich.com
Build out subdomains for just about every superstar then as people hit those pages you can see who is in most demand and capturing your own "Search traffic."
I hope you understand what I mean.
Build your brandname in your entries too, here is an example of what you can write at the bottom of one of your Paris Hilton entries: "Well, that's it from SpoiledRich: Lindsay Lohan for today. Make sure to check out SpoiledRich: Paris Hilton to see what the hotel heiress is up to today.
Then you may start working on Spoiled Rich: Britney Spears.
Start launching different blogs based on which slut is coming up most on your SE stats. Is it Spoiled Rich jennifer Lopez? then you know what blog to start next.
These are all longterm strategies that will pay off over the years you are in the business.
Just an idea.
Oh and about opening links in new windows. I would think the opposite. The sites that you want to be sticky you give the surfer the respect by opening in the same window. If someone wants to leave your site by clicking on another site link then let it open in the same page.
Of course there are times when popping open in a new window makes more sense. All I am saying is dont be paranoid about losing traffic cuz you are opening in a new window. Spend that energy on pleasing your visitor while he/she is on your site. You dont see google and yahoo, some of the stickiest sites on the net popping open new windows all over the place.
I am adding your links to my blog now:

Is it worth keeping comments open? I have one blog with a couple hundred hits a day and I turned on comments the other day to see what readers might say, but it was all spam. I use wordpress, so I can filter that before it's posted, but that causes me to moderate and I'd rather just write and not have to deal with that. Any comments about that?

just go to my blog, hit comments on any of them . . . you will see the trackback URL.
If you use Wordpress or Pmachine (or whatever the Kblogger program is) you will see a place on the "Write" page to insert the trackback URL of the entry you are commenting onComment

Is there really any evidence though that comments are helping you SE wise? The writing itself should be enough activity? I mean I guess everything can help, I just don't like the idea of having to monitor that. Maybe I will try it out again and see what happens.Originally posted by baddogWrong . . . comments bring activity, SE's love blogs that are active.

People can and do make money with blogs. But you just can't throw up a piece of shit and start counting your chickens. You might get some SE traffic but if your blog SUCKS you won't get any bookmarks or return traffic. The blog should have the following:Originally posted by Iconhere's my dumbass question of the day.
Can u make $$ from Blogs or is it just a place to whine/bitch/cry/complain about life?
I saw Wil Wheaton's Blog - what a snoozer!
(1) The blog should be about something. If you're just posting adds to porn sites, surfers will see right through it and split.
(2) You have to know how to write. (This probably eliminates 80% of people here).
(3) Don't use pop ups of any kind and don't make your blog into a banner farm. If you are all about making a quick buck from one time SE hits, surfers will see that and move on. Besides, most pop ups are blocked by ISPs these days.
You might also consider doing a non-adult blog. These things can make money too and there is no law that says you have to be 100% in the porn biz.If you have a music site that sells digital downloads, please contact me.Comment

Cool blog. BTW, I noticed that one of your recent projects involved a surfer vbulletin board (which I won't post here because I don't wanna get banned). I have been seriously thinking about blogs and user forums as a source of BM traffic in the non-adult side of things and was wondering what your experience has been so far. Some of those vbulletin boards have a HUGE membership. If you have a network of these things like some people do, it can really add value to your online portfolio. Vbulletin forums (non-adult) with as little as 3,000 members have been sold for 5K or more.Originally posted by baddogI think I know what one of my next topics will be on baddog's bytesIf you have a music site that sells digital downloads, please contact me.Comment

Well, the board is new, and we didn't set it up to sell it, we set it up as a medium to spam surfers with.
If we are effective it will bring in more than $5k
