Treo 600 or Blackberry?

I can login to my bank which I would hope has crazy encryption. I never tried on the Blcakberry but the Treo has it's own fully featured browser that performs just like IE. Anything you can do o IE you can do with it.I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...

I love my blackberry. It's my best friend now.Comment

I don't own a PDA but I've looked at most of them and I'm leaning towards the Ipaq...even though it means I'll have to pay $175 to terminate my current cell phone contract and switch to T mobile.
I've heard great things about the Treo 650....but you'd have to get an unlocked one (more $$) and I hear they're fragile as hellsig too bigComment

wow awesome info in this thread.
I actuallyposted a thread this morning asking the same exact question...not knowing this thread was out there.
quiet....I think I am going with the Treo 650, been eyeing it for awhile...actually I am off to the store now to get it!
sooooo glad I saw this thread.

does blackberry browser have 128 bit encyption? i can't find any documentation that states it...Originally posted by A1R3Ktreo is alot more fragile. if you drop it, game over. and most cell companies will only let you have 2 claims per contract which is mostly two years.
blackberry has ssh too.we'll miss you our friend. RIPComment

ok, I went to buy the Treo and got completely overwhelmed with all the tech shit they were saying....I am now researching blackberrys. haha

okay, so i found an unlocked gsm treo 650 for 700 USD. i talked to rogers and they will support it no problem as long as it's gsm and unlocked...

*if* i get it, what sort of accessories should i be picking up? memory, case, etc? i'm still kind of worried about the ease of breaking it, especially when i'm going to be traveling all over the place.we'll miss you our friend. RIPComment

i have a blackberry 7280. I love it. The 7290 is just like it but with bluetooth technology. The 7100r looks good but the keyboard design is not as fast as the 7200 series. The blackberry is faster to function with phone use and email use compared to the Treo. Overall I would get the Blackberry 7290 for shure. Pics are difficult to deal with so I just email them to myself then forward to others. Good luck.Comment

have you tried the new treo (the 650)? pornwolf, can i get your opinion (or email addy) for figuring out what accessories i should consider?Originally posted by jacquesi have a blackberry 7280. old thread, but i got a blackberry 7290 on friday. it hasn't left my hand since.
pros
- full browsing capabilites (user auth, HTTPS, images, whatever)
- ssh client
- icq / msn /aol client
- really fast emailing capability (typing is rockin' fast)
cons
- have to use headset for comfortable phoning
- can not supply laptop with an internet connection
lmk any questions.Once used rectally, the thermometer should not be used orally, for sanitary reasons.Comment

I'm 95% sure that it IS possible to connect your laptop to the net using a blackberry, they even produce modem drivers for this. I know my buddy is in the process of doing this, I'll post here in the new few days whether he got it working or notOriginally posted by thebizbucketold thread, but i got a blackberry 7290 on friday. it hasn't left my hand since.

I have a Treo 600 and like it but there are issues (no phone is perfect it just depends what you are going to use it for)
quiet you mentioned updating your blog with it... fyi, when I first got my Treo I noticed the internet access was very slow (with Rogers in Toronto) so slow that I hardly used it and ended up disconnecting the internet/email package... not sure if they've improved this since a year ago.
Overall I like the Treo 600 but the camera is just a gimmick as the .3mp is not good resolution at all and you cant see anything at all unless the room is well lit or you are outside during the day.
I got a case for mine and have dropped it quite a few times and it still works fine...
the biggest issue I have with my Treo is that the loudest setting for the ring isn't very loud and the Vibrate function is too soft (compared to other phones I've had) which makes me miss alot of calls when its in my jacket, or if I leave it in another room.
But the Treo still is a way cool phone, I especially like the Palm Os so there are way more applications for it than the Blackberry. (I had an old blackberry years ago and liked that too)

i never lost data from battery dieing, itll shutdown for a long period before totally going dead... there are bigger battery addons you can also get, as well as
always keep that sucker on a deskcharger.... if it dies, simply hotsync it back

You CAN use Blackberry as a modem!
We confirmed that it works with Rogers here in canada, couldn't get to work with a Fido connection. Your BES needs to support it, should call up the phone company to be sure that they support it.

I just got the 7100t a few days ago, and I'm wondering if i made the wrong decision - the Treo is available through t-mobile so I guess I need to go and check it out more in depth.Originally posted by Direct HollyI just got the Blackberry 7100t and it seems ok... Internet feels pre 28.8k modem slow, but email/AOL IM/ICQ work more than adequately.
I'm going back to the store I got it from in the morning and I'm going to see what the real deal is between the 2.
Now that i've worked with the 7100t for a few days I have a better grasp for what I like and don't like.
BTW - on the phone service side - T-mobile drops way more calls then my Nextel!
Anyone want to buy JstylesHacked.com?
