All of em can really be used in the gym. Creative is my favorite sinve half of my collection is in WMA but Ipod will work just as well IMHO.
I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...

I have the Iriver IHP-140
amazing battery life
shitty navigation
I also have the Ipod and the Ipod Mini
amazing navigation
TERRIBLE battery life
so it's really up to you

I've never seen anyone in my gym with an iPod... they look too fucking big to carry around, what do you do, strap it to your waist or something?... I could use the mini, but bdjuf said the battery life is terrible.
