I'm adding in sponsors now, Keep spamming me with them
lol you want us to the work for you? fuck off troll. SR is a very well established and trusted program, and if you think the $300 a year is not well spent, you are in the wrong business.
I agree putting down stats remote wasn't needed (and hurts you more than them)
Re: which features
I'd make it SERVER based, and NOT "calling home", with only the 100 or so biggest programs maintained by you (= 1-2 guys in Nepal), and every user can add/maintain his exotic sponsors himself with an "editor" feature. Also make it solid and with a higher price.
I wouldn't try doing the exact same thing as stats remote just cheaper.
Server based has many advantages. I want to get rid off anything adult related on my desktop, and be able to check stats from any computer.
- SERVER BASED (PHP & MySQL generating HTML output every X hours & on request)

I'd expect a comment like that from a FireFox user, I bet you also think there are no vulnerabilities in your lame browser don't you?

beside to what he said, that a better idea to listen what future clients want beside than insulting them
easiest and most convenient solution, without worrying about someone storing your accesses:
make a simple html page, save it online, htpasswd protect it, and link to all programs you send traffic to. With a browser that saves your login info, you can swiftly run through all your affiliate programs...
that still won't give you the convenience to show conversions in one page, overall conversions and calculate all the other shebang that SR offers.
hahahaha by your logic people shouldnt bother to have locks on their doors
because who gives a shit ahahah
nah my logic only say
if you want to use MS Access for security, think again
if you want to add a security feature, add a real one
like having a red light flashing in your car beside a real security device ;)
maybe the red light will block some newbie thief, but a very small % so you better not waste time on it cause anyway, its not worth your time
Dude, If somebody tries to flame me I'm going to call them on it... as would you
I didn't intend on this to become a drama thread either, I'm one of the nicest guys you'll ever talk to. StatsRemote is a good service if you're willing to pay for it, however I am not the only one who feels that it's a little pricey... I'm going to finish this software and market it for a good price, It'll help the average webmaster organize his statistics in a timely manor. That's all I'm doing.

That would be good enough with a handful of sponsors. For a long time I used only a few. But at one point I needed 60 sponsors for a new project, and I bought StatsRemote.

i dont think we are talking about the same thing
im talking about cataloging stats and stuff in access it has nothing to do with security

this is taken straigt from the recommended list on GFY....
if you were to put ALL these sponsors in there, and update it regularly to make sure they worked every time I logged in, i MIGHT switch to you from stats remote, but not likely
fact is, statsremote has made an EXCELLENT product that people are HAPPY to use......why not be original and find something else that people need and want instead of jacking someone elses shit? i would not buy it simply cause you are being unoriginal and just copying someone else plan instead of finding a niche and making mad loot coming up with your own thing
sift through the html yourself, i didn't feel like editing it

I used to think statsremote was pricey until I realised the amount of fixup work they must need to do for every update. $359.40 per year is not going to break the bank... or is it???
Your "I am going to write a better program! I am starting RIGHT NOW!" thread is laughable.
I actually didn't bother to re-signup with statsremote when they switched billers; that was a while back, circumstances have changed, so this thread has inspired me to have another look. Your bashing just got them another customer.
hmm
a few people have attempted to make there own " stats remote " and even offered em for free
every single one of them are no longer arond .. even after giving the service away for free
I dont think you can make a stable stats remote clone in VB
okay, I have it storing acct login information to an .ini
I'll have a working version with a few sponsors coded into it availible in a couple hours just for you all to test and use before you start shitting on my idea
I used to spend the first hour of my day, everyday, logging into sponsor's sites and checking my stats....writing down numbers etc etc
Then 3 or 4 times per month I'd have to go in and write down all the $$ amounts and signup numbers month-to-date to figure out how I was trending for the month and whether or not it was better or worse than last month.
It was quite the chore.
With stats remote I get all the numbers right in front of me with one click...and I can compare them to last month....this month last year....I can compare today to last Saturday...and the Sat before that....etc etc etc
The one thing I wish they had was a server based version installed on my server....so I could login from anywhere and see all of my numbers.
Obviously the time it saves me is well worth the $30 a month....hell that's just over $1 an hour for each hour it saves me compared with my routine before I got it.
The only other program I've seen with a similar service was revstats...and they charge the same price for up to 25 programs and more if you have more than 25 accounts that you need checked.
I do agree that the stats remote guys are probably making a fortune....at LEAST 1000 webmasters rebilling at $30 per month for a program that's probably not that hard to write/maintain. (in relation to the income it generates for them)
BUT they were first to market with their idea and there's obviously a huge demand for the product they offer.

Well, if it wasn't that hard to write/maintain there would be other programs like StatsRemote. I know that quite a few people tried to develop similar services but so far nobody succeeded... and I'm not only talking about the people that announced it on GFY and failed or the people that stole from us (not the actual code) and lost their credit card processing and domain.
If you run a service like StatsRemote there's a lot more than adding/updating sponsors which is already a lot of work.

where is that version? we can't wait to test it ..
