Anyone have experience with suing a City?

Local city. 50,000 population, the city fucked me, I have proof on documents that I obtained from the City recorder (legally). How do I go about doing this. (I know get an attorney first).

Anyone have any real life experience with something like this?

Oh yeah, I am also worried about the city causing me problems with a very small business I have in the city... how do I ensure that does not happen as well?

Constantly record the activities of your buisness. If its a Point of sale type biz, video and audio record if you can. Take all of your buisness accounts to another county's bank. Hire a lawyer that is "respected" within the city you live. The city itself wont "harass" you, unless you afford them the opportunity by not having all neccesary permits, or whatever.

Give me more info, what is your Lawsuit about, what kind of buisness is it that you own, where is it located in relation to the city????

My business is a point of sale... very small deli. The lawsuit is simple. They City made me pay $40,000 (est) to add a turn lane for cars coming into my business on a public street. The problem is, some other guy just moved in on the same street with a car stereo business, and the city paid for his entry....

I feel like Im owed back my $40k.
