I hate when I get scammed...

I posted an ad on this site looking for a programmer to help me revise my site.
(Let me first say that I'm sorry for those of you I haven't responded back to, I dropped the ball.)

I responded back to a programmer who's proposal fit my budget. I sent a 50% deposit, because in my world that's reasonable. I was getting regular status reports, we were communicating regularly on ICQ and email, and everything looked like it was going swimmingly.

According to my status updates we were ready to upload the new code and move the site over. Then I was asked for the final payment. When I said I'd pay when the work was completed, and the site was working, I got an "OK" a few more lines to make it sound Legit..and then Nothing......

No more emails. No response on ICQ...

And it's not even about the Money...I just hate being Lied to....

so if [email protected] (ICQ#665510034 emails you about working on a project....tell him to email me, because for some reason he's apparently not getting my messages!

There are tooooo many scammers on this board these days. Ask a program you respect and KNOW to refer you to someone. Decent people will refer you. I can think of a few.

When I am going to shell out cash to somebody I do some simple things like google their email address and ICQ... If you did that with mine you would see me all over the web. You'd be able to read threads I had made here and elsewhere. You would see that I am legit.

I googled this guys info and it is nowhere to be found. That would have been a big clue to me that he is full of shit.

use Elance.com - even if its a private job, and never EVER pay anything before the programming is 100% done according to plan.

If the programmer cant accept those terms, find someone that will. There are thousands of great programmers out there, so there is no reason to position yourself in such a way, they can end up fucking you over for hard earned money.
