Some days I think that, other days not so much. The reality is there are tons of boards where you can do business and I've always viewed this place as more of a bar where everybody unwinds. Plus we do have buy/sell and other sections and since most of the others are ghost towns, I guess we have our answer.

Plus, I actually find myself here more than anywhere ... I just fire up skype and icq or shoot off some emails if I want to do biz.

Most of the time I'm surfing GFY from my phone while smoking a cigarette out back. Or when I'm waiting somewhere and want to occupy myself. It's good entertainment.

I don't really see any problem here. There are way too many posts to read and I doubt many people even bother to check Page 2, so whatever subject grinds your gears there's no possibility that it can swamp the board to the exclusion of things you find interesting.

All you get with mod-heavy communities is people running to 'teacher' every five seconds about every little thing, crying to get people banned. Happens here too, but fortunately the whiners are usually ignored. Mod-heavy places have less 'character' and either die off or end up as just small, cliquey borefests.

With no moderation people are forced to put up with shit they don't like or learn to ignore it. In other words adults are forced to grow up and take some responsibility.

That's how it should be on an adult (as in mature, not necessarily porn) forum, and GFY does well in that respect, IMHO.
