I'll never forget the night my future wife confronted me with my girlfriend. We call it the "spaghetti incident". To make a long story short, my best friend (total idiot really) knew about both girlfriends and late one night was rushed to the hospital and straight into surgery. I told Donna (my wife now) that my old girlfriend (Karen) would be there, so it wouldn't be a good idea for her to show up - "uncool to make a scene at the hospital while my buddy is dieing". Donna knew what was going on; According to her she figured it out weeks ago. She had a few drinks and then showed up at the hospital.

There we are, in the lobby, my girlfriend, my buddy's parents, sister, when Donna walks up. She introduces herself as a friend of John's and meanwhile I'm shitting bricks wondering how this is gonna play out. I turned to Donna and said "Can we talk outside". We walk out, and I'm trying to get her to leave when Karen walks out with a dozen questions. Finally I'm thinking this is gonna crash hard so I just say "Well, I've been fucking you both for the past two months". Karen just hauled off and sucker punched me in the face... I quickly left the scene alone.

I guess in the back of my mind I already made my decision, because when I left I went to a bar where Donna and I went to all the day. I guess I wanted Donna to find me, and not Karen. Donna shows up, I explain everything, and Donna asked me to move in with her.

And that was that. Twenty years later we are still together.
