Do you have white / gray hair?

When I was a child I was under the impression that only old ("grandpa" type of old) people have white hair. Now I look around / the mirror and see 25 year olds with gray hair starting to pop up. What's the deal?

My first guess it's (bad) genes + laziness.

I'm blonde, so even if I do, I wouldn't know for a while. I know many people my age (late 20s) that have grays. They always seem to be the people in the most stressful environments, and they seem to have the darkest hair as well.

I'm 31. My hair is real dark and I don't have any on my head. My goatee is mostly dark but has some red and blond in it. I have a couple of gray's popping up in my goatee.

Sucks man, but a lot better than the alternative.

Mines from a combination of bad genes (father went grey young) and a ton of stress.

i'm getting more every month - i'm 46 tho, would be pretty unrealistic to not have any gray hair at my age. i think most of the middle aged people u see without any gray hair are dying it.

those other things might be true but gray hair has nothing to do with sitting on your ass. do you have a link to anywhere it says being a couch potato can cause hair to turn gray?

That makes no sense, lazy people have little stress so they would probably have the least amount of gray hair if it's caused by stress.

I've noticed that fat chicks usually have healthy looking hair, I think it's the extra fat that makes it thick and shiny. It's those skinny gym rat women that look all dried out all the time.

asians don't go gray as fast and also age slower in general - whites age the worst , the fairer the skin the faster you age it seems.

I am 42 - I have long hair, peppered with grey. Mostly noticeable through long wisps at the side, near my ears. The bulk however, is dark brown.

However, about 5 years ago, when I shaved my head completely to remove my Mohican, and it grew back from scratch, while it was still short, 1 cm long, it was almost completely grey...

I would bet it is under the same genetic confines of where the baldness gene comes from, your mothers fathers hair. My grandfather barely has all grey hair now and he's in his late 80's...
