I'm not saying this is the case here but one of the newer scams on affiliates are $1 trials which are then loaded with upsells to other programs the affiliate doesn't get paid for. The sponsor doesn't care about converting the surfer either. They just find another sponsor to partner with and circle jerk the upsells and cut out the affiliate. You send them good traffic and at best make 50 cents from each. Some of them are even so bold as to add unpaid cross sales too.
