How can I identify why people aren't checking out with their cart?
 

I've got analytics showing that mostly everyone that adds items to their cart on my site never checks out. I have analytics showing the "Steps" they take but it's not quite telling me the "Why" they don't check out. Anyone have any tips on troubleshotting this?

Maybe they are going in to see the shipping? Might change up your text to state earlier that there is Free shipping for in the US and see if that changes the behaviour some.

maybe too expensive shipping, not offering shipping to that specific country, maybe bot traffic...

Maybe, make an exit survey for cart abandonments. 1 in 20 people might reply but you would get some input that was not a guess.

If I were to guess;

What are the countries of origin -- US/Canada?
How many go from page 1 to page 2
Are they having second thoughts about the price.

Page 1 ADD TO CART
Page 2 CHECKOUT

Check orgin country and compare to shipping fees.

and maybe you can add some more text about security? from both sides, card and delivery metod for example 100% safe box with no adult label? etc. tnx
