Puerto Rico is going to get shafted
I was watching the mayor of San Juan in an interview describing just how bad it is there. She's talking in the darkest terms about a major humanitarian crisis looming there. Some people in her position would break down talking about the crazy shit she's seeing on a daily basis.
I have a feeling that with this current administration unable to wipe it's own ass, we're about to see what a Puerto Rican Mad Max movie would look like. The Trump administration can only do things like ban travelers and attempt to take away rights from people. When it comes to doing the right thing...it's not something they excel at. Do you think it'll be a lackluster response resulting in many deaths -- or will it be an amazing response and save lives? I'll put my money on lackluster. |
Not white enough for Trump to care. This will be his Katrina.
|
maybe they should post pictures of themselves kneeling before the flag. That way chump will give them some attention.

I just heard a blurb about this today. They mentioned that the US armed forces has already been fully engaged in delivering water, generators, working on restoring infrastructure necessities etc. but the Media hasn't been reporting on it.

The fact that she said she was too busy to fill out the paperwork so FEMA knows what they need, shows how unqualified she is for her position.
She is out doing photo ops when she should be taking care of business. I feel sorry for my friends there. |
Being offshore is a difficulty multiplier. It's not like you can drive there with the needed materials and supplies.

She should be coordinating with FEMA instead of making youtube videos.

trump is doing nothing at all. He hasn't done anything for Houston, Florida, and now Puerto Rico. trump signed a piece of paper sending financial aid, but that's it. He did the bare minimum.
There are over three million American citizens in Puerto Rico who will not have power for months. Not including the air craft carrier in dry dock, we have two aircraft carriers in port on the east coast. I understand it takes some effort to get these ships fully manned and supplied, but the moment we knew Puerto Rico suffered a direct hit shouldn't someone in our government say "Maybe we should get one of these ships out to sea in the event we need them"? The US Navy has two hospital ships, the Mercy and the Comfort; Why aren't these being deployed? Again, I understand such ships cannot just leave port but perhaps they should have started the process a week ago and perhaps they could just be arriving on station now. Instead, our government has done.... pretty much nothing. Then again, what did we expect from someone who's biggest claim to fame was firing Meatloaf on national TV. |
The US should not rush to help too quickly. There needs to be consequences for maintaining a nation that can't care for itself.

Puerto Rico signed a terrible deal with US investors. Essentially promising to pay THEM back before ANYTHING else
infrastructure etc... which put them $70 billion in debt and since they are not technically a State that cannot declare bankruptcy... this just put the dagger in such a terrible way Regardless I'm sure Trump will do the exact wrong thing |
More "refugees" to US...

PR is of near zero value to the US here in 2017 and shouldn't even be a territory anymore. The original purpose was to expand naval stations into the Caribbean for the coal powered ships.

Interestingly... Both logic and logistics ultimately derive from the Greek logos, meaning "reason." But while logic derives directly from Greek, logistics took a longer route, first passing into French as logistique, meaning "art of calculating," and then into English from there. |
There are a lot of flaming assholes in this thread. Decided not to finish reading their bullshit. tRump is a fuck-up. Nothing else to be said. Defend this turd makes you a turd.

The only agency that can handle the logistics of this is the DOD... Even FEMA cannot handle this; FEMA doesn't have ships and planes. |

The mission of the Department of Defense is to provide the military forces needed to deter war and to protect the security of our country. The department's headquarters is at the Pentagon. In other words, it isn't their job; even if it was California, they would have to be asked. |
It's really bad down there hope everything works out

You serious? --They might as well be in Bangladesh (as far as Trump's government is concerned) ... |
