News Are We TOO Sensitive To Race Issues?

Are we too sensitive to race these days? I never saw the ad but if the guys were husky, and the chick thin, I'd think "lighter" referred to weight. Racism is alive and kicking, but aren't we a little overboard? You can see racism in almost anything if you search ... It's all perception.

Heineken under fire for 'terribly racist' light beer commercial

Heineken has removed a controversial commercial after several online called the advertisement "terribly racist."

In the 30-second commercial, a bartender slides a beer down the bar, and past several customers to a woman standing in the distance. The slogan "sometimes lighter is better" is then flashed on the screen.

Several on Twitter took issue with the ad and brought up that before the slogan, the light-skinned bartender slides the beer past a dark-skinned man at the bar, under a black man playing guitar and past a black model before reaching the light-skinned woman in the distance.

Chance the Rapper, who may have been the first to comment on the commercial, tweeted, "I think some companies are purposely putting out noticably racist ads so they can get more views. And that s--- racist/bogus so I guess I shouldn't help by posting about it. But I gotta just say tho. The 'sometimes lighter is better' Hienekin commercial is terribly racist omg"
"This Heineken light beer commercial is definitely racist. What idiots do they have approving this ad? Fire that person. And the ad agency who developed it should be fired. Period. No excuse for this. I watched the ad. It's racist," one person tweeted.

"Imagine creating a racist commercial and being proud of it? LMFAO never giving @Heineken my business again," another wrote.

However, some felt the ad was not offensive.

"I would love to know how the Heineken Commercial is racist. When the say light I'm pretty sure they are talking about how it is a 99 calorie beer not the color," one person wrote.

"They were definitely not addressing race.. people really out here making something out of nothing. Y'all need to find better ways to spend your time lol," another tweeted.

"Bro, now this is a real reach. It's a beer commercial that features a variety of people. I don't see anything sinister. Heineken is in the business to sell as much beer as possible. I doubt they are pushing some hidden racial agenda," another said.

Despite the differing opinions, Heineken decided to remove the ad from television and online.
"For decades, Heineken has developed diverse marketing that shows there's more that unites us than divides us," a spokesperson for Heineken told Fox News. "While we feel the ad is referencing our Heineken Light beer, we missed the mark, are taking the feedback to heart and will use this to influence future campaigns."

I can't remember the last time I witnessef a race issue in real life. The only time I see race issues lately is people online. The Cowardly haters the think they're keyboard Warriors being tough when they spew hate online that they never do in real life.

In societies where everyone is the same race you run into other types of discrimination like sex discrimination sexual orientation discrimination darkness of skin discrimination Etc.

Someday they'll find it's a mental defect and treat it as such.

          Im guessing you're white....

Race discrimination is alive and well even in liberal cities like Los Angeles. I wouldnt have believed, until I experienced first hand, for the past 12 years being married to a Black woman.

I think us, as Americans, are collectively too stupid to realize most people's idea of race is an outdated myth in the first place which makes this whole race thing retarded.

Us, as Americans, have to be aware of the outdated myths because "retarded" people are shooting

When did you ever hear me say that? Darker people have been President of the US, doesn't get much higher than that. Doctors, Lawyers, Scientist, Businessmen, Millionaires, Billionaires, etc. So any thought that the colour of your skin defines you is bullshit.

However. Culture, surrounding, upbringing, the society that a person lives in, parents, all have a hand in shaping someone.

You're an idiot for even thinking I claimed race made a difference. A prejudice to see racism where there is none. And a prejudice to ignore differences based on the colour of a person's skin.

I saw the commercial last night on a news report. You could infer racism if you think that way. They could fix it by simply stating that "new Heineken light is" blah bosh blah. The voiceover in James Earl Jones' voice would grab your attention.

                                      Some people are, for certain.

Take, for example, people who scream about cultural appropriation. If a white person does their hair in cornrows some people think it is cultural appropriation and it is bad. This country is supposed to be a melting pot of ideas and beliefs. If a person of another race or culture thinks something from your race/culture is cool enough that they want to experinece it too, you should be flattered, not offended.

Sadly, I've heard people say that someone "wants to be black" if white and hair is in cornrows. In my teens I had a curly perm (stop laughing) and I heard that it was a "faux fro".

Cornrows are identified and associated with black people. White guys who wear their pants below the hips are "acting black". That is so fucked up to think that way.

I remember in junior high a white girl had multiple ear piercings. An old teacher commented, "are you trying to look like those people in Africa?" Girl asked what she meant and she said, "you look like a colored slave" and I asked my mother what she meant.

It meant mom went to school and asked the principal if prejudice and racism were part of the curriculum. It meant I was transferred to another classroom, away from that teacher. She was retiring at the end of school year so they let her stay.

She commented on my being Jewish as "I've never taught one of them." I hadn't told my parents but finally did so. She wasn't invited to my Bas Mitzvah like other teachers and told me it was good "coz I don't like Jew food." I got angry and said "cacamun" which is Yiddish for "I shit on you." I wouldn't tell her what it meant and she suspended me. Uh, my father went to school the next day and I was unsuspended really quickly. Principal said I had to apologize and I refused unless she did first. My father surprisingly said I should not apologize for responding as I did because the teacher deserved so much more. Mom convinced me to apologize for swearing and to say "I'm sorry you're so prejudiced." Let's just say things were tense between the folks for a few days!

My folks dealt with prejudice and didn't want me near that woman. I never forgot that teacher, due to her racism & prejudice.

Anyway, no culture owns a hairstyle or clothing item. It is, however, disrespectful to copy a style that represents traditional culture and pain. If your relatives wore their hair in cornrows while slaves in cotton fields, to keep cooler, it's honoring them. If you're trying to look cool and fit in, it's disrespectful. I know that's beyond most people's thinking when they copy, but the underlying originality should matter.

I'm outraged by the fact there is a "Light" Heineken ...
I was told that this "light" beer is as bland as a virgin girl's pee ...

                                            ^Prejudice??

It's none of your damn business whether the goyim pre-judge you, post-judge you, or judge you on your own merits (or lack thereof).

                                            IMHO, of course.

Remember before free speech we had blasphemy laws that were punishable by up to execution? Is that what the crowd shouting racist, nazi, etc want to bring back? Or just to stop any discussion on subjects they don't understand?
