I was thinking the same thing. She didn't stay anonymous to avoid scammers, she went right on national TV and spilled her personal relationships etc. Odd thing to do for someone who wants to keep their money. She presents as a low self esteem target

So how much of that will she actually get? Probably around 1/3 right? I find it funny watching these shows about lottery winners who went broke after pulling in tens of millions. How hard is it not to fuck up winning a quarter billion $?

even if she only takes home 1/3, it's still a quarter BILLION! She can afford many many many fuck ups before she's broke.

But yeah, it's insane to me that people who win the lottery end up much worse off than before they won... many sad stories.

The feds take 25% then you state takes whatever the state tax is. Here its 5% so in total you would get $530,600.000 if you live in Maine . I could just squeeze by on that

Name sounds Polish to me. Either way, good luck trying to live a normal life now. $450 million one news outlet reported. I think I could live comfortably on that ...!

Years ago, a friend won a million in the Massachusetts lottery. She immediately formed LLCs to hide under. She didn't want any publicity. Sadly, she spent a hundred thousand for her husband's cancer treatments but he died.

She moved but to an average house. Her son (12) still had a paper route and other than college, no other big purchases. She stayed down-to-earth and grounded. .

S for this winner being fugly, she has the funds for extensive, expensive plastic surgery

If she takes the lump sum she already forfeits half so if she does that, depending on her state's taxes, she will end up with somewhere between $200-$250 million.

It's a lot of money and would take a lot to lose it all, but it has been done. Mike Tyson ran through more than that.

She chose to take $480,500,936 in a lump sum, which adds up to $336,350,655 after taxes.

The Jewish truly are an extraordinary people.

These women are probably no more American in character than their ancestors who stepped off the boat and signed their name with a circle. But yet their actresses and performers can seem like such beautiful, convincing, quintissential Americans. And their writers and journalists could pull a similar trick, until recently.

If I were a blue-collar Massachusetts guy, I'd surely find it galling how these women purport to represent the state. But I'm not American, so maybe it's not my place to comment.

if i won:

1/4 would go for buying real estates. no better investment than that. i would rent/airbnb/next-big-thing-after-airbnb them out and pay someone to deal with the flats. it would provide a steady income.

1/8 would go for family members and closest friends.

1/8 would be an investment for musicmaking / upgrading everything so i could produce well

1/4 would go for investment, probably some startups either. would need consultancy from a trustworthy financial advisor, would get a cut.

1/4 would go for traveling the world because our time on earth is limited and you gotta see most of it. if it doesn't take up 1/4 of what i won, i would make some charities happy, mostly anti-cancer, pro-animals and pro-children stuff.

obviously i would make sure i have enough "pocket-money" too at any given time.

would i work? probably but not continuously. i would take a 1-2 years long break, then i would be back on track as my own boss. probably hooking up the best ppl i know and start doing something together.

one thing is for sure: i would move out of hungary :D

Just put it on the bank for 5% and you have 37.5 million to spent every year.

Why wait with two year travel till you win 750.000.000

When I was growing up I had a friend who thought it was smart to play computer games with all the cheat codes on i.e. infinite money, strength, completely invincible, no challenge at all. He would get bored of the games within a couple of days and be bored. In some cases games which I'd be enjoying for months.

Winning the lottery is like having the cheats codes in life on

The last name is Polish, and it's not polish-jewish last name either (those typically end in "wicz" and later americanified to "witz"). Mavis isn't a polish name for sure though, she might have married into the last name or is the product of immigrants from long ago.

She'll end up on the show The Lottery Ruined my life. She should have taken the time to get a financial team in place and set up a trust and had a trustee accept the winnings in order
to hide her identity. Plus she should have kept working at her job for a bit longer and then made an excuse to quit

Yes it is Polish Jew and you know it, that's exactly why you said it wasn't just to start fake drama not to mention Mavis is a popular Jewish name from the 1950's meaning "small bird" j/k

Maybe you know better k0nr4d I trust you I just looked here and saw her last name:

Go here and search her last name.

Also here too you see Wanczyk are survivors of the Holocaust.

Researching her and her name and heritage is haunting me like a nightmare. You could be right I trust you k0nr4d

I didn't write anything about fake drama etc, but Walczak is not a typical jewish last name. Typical jewish last names in polish as I wrote tend to end in wicz (witz) much like -berg, -stein, etc. Wanczyk being survivors of the holocaust does not mean it's jewish either as there was a ton of polish people in camps too. There isn't a polish person alive named Mavis either.

I'm just playing devils advocate here man, I don't give a fuck if some jewish woman won the lottery on the other site of the planet. There's lotteries in israel i'm sure too.

Her ex-husband died last year. I'm sure she'll get marriage proposals now. She says her life will be the same, but with no job and all that money, she'll travel, buy lavish gifts and soon be bored.

Massachusetts got a huge windfall and I wonder which politicians will attempt to grab it for their cities or towns. They'd never think to give us a tax break..

I'd produce a bad ass Hollywood movie, buy myself an Oscar and bang Jennifer Lawrence (or Audrey Plaza - or even better: a threesome)
