Prediction.. car tech stuff

As we have a cross over to self driving cars, the cars themselves will eventually be electronically controlled to the point it will become impossible to speed. Even cars you drive yourself will end up being GPS speed.

Your car will soon put lots of cops out of jobs, because they can't fund their departments with ticket money. Cities everywhere will end up scrambling to cover their budgets as they lose lots of forced taxation by way of citation.

Lots of cities look at traffic cops as profit makers because they can write enough tickets in their daily duties to cover the expense of hiring them and give their city a profit margin..

Cops will never be out of a job. People are always needed to make sure the government ensures people's lives are happy. Behind every state program is force or the threat of force. Otherwise, people won't know what's good for them, right?

I'm not saying all cops will be out of a job, but we will see a lot less traffic cops, because cities will no longer be able to cover hiring them in their budgets. If you go to states like FL & Texas for example, both states with out a state income tax, you see an enormous amount of cops.

The reason is they are used as forced taxation by way of citation.. (yea I coined that term (i think) so I'm using it again) When you have that many cops they "find" crimes which in turn raises the crime rate of the areas meaning it's justified to have so many cops. It's a self feeding circle but soon these states like FL & TX won't have the ability to cover these excess cops in their budgets because citation writing will be largely eliminated by self driving cars.

hey dumbshit. thanks for the fairy tale. the time that "might" happen is so far down the road many alternative paths could come first.

i have doubts people will give up the hobby of driving without a fight. robot cars can't capture the thrill of going fast in a good sports car on hills & turns.

your dumbass lives in flat florida. WTF do you know about driving?

dumb lib.

Eventually we will no longer be able to speed. However, eventually computers will be able to guide us a lot faster.

I can't wait to own a self-driving car. I will of course still drive it on my own but I love the idea of getting in and saying "Jarvis, take me home".

I wonder what happens in certain legal situations. If a self-driving car hits another car, is the driver still responsible?

And what if you're out drinking. Normally you wouldn't get behind the wheel but if your car can drive you home, should you still do it? And if you're pulled over anyway, Would you still get a ticket or lose your license? Technically you're behind the wheel, but, you're also not driving.

Regardless, TECH! I love it.

Most cities don't make much money from traffic tickets. They do get a small percentage of the money, but if the person fights the ticket then the amount the city spends defending the ticket will likely be more than they get from the ticket.

The people that really profit are the states and counties. At least half the value of a traffic ticket goes directly to the state and/or county.

All that said, ticket quotas are a real thing. Some of my best friends are cops and while they say there isn't a "quota" in that they have to write a certain number of tickets, they do have contests to see who can write the most tickets, who can get the most DUIs etc. They also will get on officers that don't write enough tickets.
