Events So... I got me the drone...

Gotta learn how to fly it now. Not enough room in the house and windy outside. Still its fun anyway.

I have so far got it taking off vertically and hovering. I have learnt where the auto trim function is, so I can keep it level. Tried side to side but it went crazy. Bringing it back towards me and making it go further away seemed easier, but still a long way to go.

The camera works though, so thats nice.

How long is a piece of string?

I was instantly comfortable with mine, but I've been flying RC aircraft for 30 years and playing videogames even longer.

The reason most kids can pick them up and fly so easily is that almost all kids already have excellent hand-eye coordination from playing videogames.

Not long at all, but it depends on the drone. Some drones use a second low-res camera and other sensors to look down and "see" where they are in space which helps with stabilization. If your drone works the same way, it may not work well inside your house if it can't see detail in your floor or carpet, so flying inside may be trickier to learn than flying outside.

Yeah, its his Xmas present but I'm trying it out and putting batterys in it, charging it and stuff first. If I like it and he likes it I may get a real expensive one that we can fly together

Some drones don't fly over water very well, either...for the same reason - has a tough time reading the texture of the surface.
