Canadians, turn to CBC!

It's a whole hour of "Talking with Americans".

Morons would be an understatement.

I caught that show once. It was magnificent. I think if more Americans knew that show existed, the results would be interesting.

The news all day down here has been about your peon calling out President a "moron". The Canada bashing from the "right" in this country was insane. I listened to Pat Buchanan rip a Canadian a new asshole with facts and figures that I could only have dreamed about using on this board. I hope I find a transcript. It was brutal. Even Bill Press, that democrat crybaby, got in on the act saying shit about inferiority complex. Never have I seen as much Can basing in the press as I have seen today. It was momentous.

Certain things are not supposed to happen. Peroid!! How we citizens fell about some public official is one thing. But when a high ranking public relations official calls another countries President/Prime Minister a moron that is going over the line. Moreover, the feeling in the US Media is that she was just saying something that she had heard from someone else.

It would be truely interesting to see how the US would/will respond to Canada if something bad happens there. I for one would vote against anyone in my district at this point that supported Canada in any way!!

For Creatian or how ever he spells it to tell her not to resign is disgraceful to say the least.

Americans shooting their mouths off here about the
"Talking to Americans" ... it's NOT a news show. It's
Rick Mercer, comedian talking to REAL Americans on
the street.

Normally it's a segment of this show,

I find it interesting how Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien can make fun of how stupid everyone thinks Bush is, but if one Canadian makes some private comment to someone else about how she thinks Bush is a moron every American is suddenly a patriot that stands behind their president. Lame.

Bear,
One that entertains is an entertainer. One who is a PR person, is supposed to deal with the public responsibly.

I'm the first to poke fun at all politicians, but I am not a public figure. Do you really see no difference??

She wasn't dealing with the public when she said that. It's not like she said it in a press conference.

She was irresponsible as there were reporters very close by that heard her.

Like I said above, maybe this feeling is felt throughout Cretians Administration.

Probably because you think an attack on Bush is somehow an attack on you. I say let Bush suffer the slings and arrows that he's brought upon himself.

You people should be boycotting the CBC, our government broadcaster, as all of us Canadians who crave freedom do. They are brainwashing you boys and girls.

Keep in mind what their true mission is; it's not to inform and it's not to entertain. It's to promote a particular political philosophy (the so-called "Canadian way"). Mocking Americans is of course a key part of that.

I wonder how all of you Liberals would react to an identical show on the CBC called "Talking To Mexicans" - ah, now that would be different! It would quickly be labelled "racist", and worthy of condemnation for sure.

I personally can't stand shows like "Talking To Americans" - it's just too obviously propaganda for the simple-minded and insecure. You see it in teenagers all the time - make yourself feel better about yourself by mocking those who are close-by but different.

As I get older and older I am becoming more embarassed to be Canadian. We are a nasty, hypocritical, self-serving bunch.

I find it humorous that people take such glee in that fact that Americans feel so much apathy towards Canada that they do not even bother to learn who runs the show. I bet you 95% of Americans couldnt tell you who runs Canada.

Most Americans dont think twice or give two shits about Canada. Canada, to those of us who live near the border, is the land of underage drinking and third world exchange rate. All we know of Canada is that all your celebs and musicians come down here to make money... and sometimes they tell us what it is like to be Canadian. Thats it. Today was the most press I have ever seen Canada get in this country. People spent the whole day laughing at you. Tomorrow they will forget again.

Yet you people spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about us. Pretending like you dont care what we think. When the exact opposite is true. You care so much what we think that you make a television show around it.

And I find that more than mildly ironic.

i agree. i also find it funny that, 'people' can't help but react to Canadian threads (no matter how retarded) regardless of this apathy.

Americans aren't especially apathetic about Canada.

They're apathetic about everything.. Canada is just one of those things. The only reason they MIGHT know where parts of the US are on the map is because they got it pounded into them in high school.. They're too apathetic on the whole to learn any more.

About anything.

If the American public wasn't so ignorant, GWB wouldn't have been elected, Patriot Act and the DMCA wouldn't have passed, and they wouldn't even be talking about this Homeland Security bullshit.

Make no mistake, Canada is in the same shitter, and has been there longer.

Cheers,
Backov

Yes I Am Canadian.

The way I see it, it's all fun and games. Let's face it, if some American came to Canada and asked enough Canadians he could find uninformed people making asses of themselves as well.

Americans are proud people and learn about American culture. Not Canadian culture. And with more than 10 times the population, the news in Canada constantly focuses on American news while Americans rarely hear about Canadian news.

The last time the show was on they went to Harvard and asked some professors what they thought of Canada giving its female citizens the right to vote. Most of them were very impressed by Canadas insightfulness and congratulated us on our attemp at true democracy.

If someone wrote this show no-one would believe it; it is true that truth is stranger than fiction.
