Please help me with my monitor display problems
So I finally upgraded and got a 22 inch Gateway HD monitor. Also upgraded the graphics card on my PC and running DVI from it to monitor. Im trying to watch HD movie trailers, they load but Im not getting actual video, I get choppy, slide-show-type video. What gives?
My monitor specs are here http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...ct_code=341975 graphics card: ATI Radeon 9250 VisionteK. 256 mg at 400mhz. 240Mhz VPU, Vga, DVI TV out. PC, 2800+ AMD 1.2 Gb ram. Even websites, once loaded they look great but my old 4:3 screen would just BAM and display them, this one prints the page from top to bottom, you can see it every time a page loads like a pull down screen.

I would look at your drivers and display settings

I can be wrong, but I don't think that radeon is enough to drive a 22" lcd through dvi. Did you try the vga connection? Did the hd videos play smoothly on your CRT?

22" inch lcd's have a resolution of 1680x1050, a dual link cable isn't necessary.

I updated all drivers. Nothing in the settings that I didnt change, test or adjust. Could I have a bad DVI cable? I guess I can try another card but that sucks cause this one wasnt exactly cheap.

Ok, I assume you're running at 60hz?
There's two options in the ATI control panel called 'Reduce DVI frequency on high-resolution displays' and 'Alternate DVI operation mode', you could try enabling/disabling them to see if they help. Try connecting the monitor to a friend's computer or borrow a graphics card from someone to rule out a problem with the card. Ultimately, the electronics driving the panel can be fucked, in wich case you'll need to take the monitor back and get a new one. |
