SIRIUS Radio!
I just bought the Sirius Sportster for my car...
I was wondering if anyone had bought this, and did you install it yourself? So far it seems like a pain in the ass to install myself ![]()

I learned a long time ago when I bought my first pair of subs, never to try installing things into your car by yourself.

I bought a Sirius Visor and used it for a month, then actually bought the Sportster Replay a couple of weeks ago and got it installed and I LOVE it. I ended up having a professional install it, it's definately worth the money because everything is done nice and neat, plus where I got it installed, they just used the base and mounted it in the perfect spot, it looks like it should be there.
Just so ya know, I also had XM for over a year and a half, but I think that Sirius is a LOT better for my hard rock/metal needs ![]() |

I installed it in my Trans Am in the summer.. have since ditched Sirius, but installation was a breeze..
Hid the Siriux box under the front passenger seat, ran the cable from the Sirius box to my CD deck under the center console and up behind the deck to its plugin port. Ran the antenna wire from under the passenger seat to under the trim around the door (you'll have to loosen or remove the screws first), up the side of the door, underneath the rubber trim for the passenger-side t-top, and to the center of the t-top.. had the antenna mounted about 4 inches further toward the rear of the vehicle. The adhesive they provide in the kit works like a charm.. drove around at high speeds, in the wind, rain, etc. and it never so much as bounced.

Not sure what type of vehicle you own but I'm assuming you don't have t-tops.. in that case run the wire under the trim to the very rear of the car and have it popup either through a rear window or the side of the trunk (depending on whether or not your trunk is seperate from or connected to the remaining interior of the vehicle)

I installed in my Mercedes pretty easily.
I have a different model, the JVC pda style one. Installation is the same. Hardwire the power. Ran line out to the stereo Ran the antenna through the sunroof, under headliner, down a pillar. Pretty clean install took me about an hour and a half. Quote:

I installed mine myself. Its really pretty easy.
Just place the magnet on the roof and make sure the wire is taut. Push the wire inside the side window rubber or make a small hole and drop it down inside the rubber and catch it at the bottom. Then continue it down just inside the door frame and come out on the floor board. Run it under the front right seat to your center console and then up in towards the radio and plug in the antenna. Be sure you pick a frequency that has no stations on your stereo car radio to pickup the transmitter signal. I use 87.9 mhz for my Sirius Channel. You go to channel 184 to activate your unit. Took me under 30 minutes to get it all installed and running.
