Acupuncture anyone?

I had some back pain so I thought I would try it, I didn't like it at all. The needle part wasn't that bad but I had to lay on my tummy for what seemed to be forever. Now my back and shoulder feel worse than when I went.

Has anyone had Acupuncture done before? I'm regretting it now, I can't even wash the dishes with out feeling pain.

WE once had a neighbor before who practice acupuncture, and I was once his patients. It was such a nice feeling once you finished the whole thing. ;)

When performed by a properly trained and licensed practitioner, acupuncture is safe and effective, free from adverse or addictive side effects. Quite often, a sense of relaxation and well-being occurs during and after treatments. While undergoing therapy for one ailment, other problems may resolve concurrently. This is a common side benefit that again demonstrates the value of balancing the quality and quantity of "vital energy" within the entire person.

I don't know about acupuncture, but I swear by acupressure (same principle but you apply pressure to certain points on your body using your fingers and/or thumbs).

I have angina, which frequently produces excrutiating chest pains and although nitro pills/spray relieve the pain, they also give me pretty bad headaches. A friend of mine, a chiropractor, suggested acupressure and gave me the relevant charts and instructions.

The best spot of all is on my back and it is amazing how fast the pain goes away when my better half is handy to apply pressure there. Of the two spots I can reach myself, one (near my wrist) rarely helps, but the other (between my ribs) is effective at limiting the amount of pain and slowly reducing it. And all without any negative side effects...

I had a problem in my spine, during to spend 12 hours in front of the compuer for years. I did:

1] Fisiotherapy to quick recover
2] Hydrotherapy to make the muscles stronger and feel less pain
3] Acupuncture to work with the pain [and it really helped]
4] PGE exercices, to correct my posture
-
Its not fully recovered yet, but I can live without pain. The best in my opinion was the hydrotherapy. For me the acupuncure Helped as well.

Kind Regards

I used to get headaches that would last for 2-3 weeks at a time about every 6 months.

No matter what I did or took the sharp pain would go away, but the dulling pain would just stay there.

Friends of mine told me to see an acupuncturist it was this guy:
http://www.drluc.com/home.html

Anyway, I went and it was very expensive.
The first day I went he put in all the needles and it was kind of weird the little tingly feeling you get as what feels like little electrical surges go through your body.

Long story short my headache went away a few days later...and to this day I have never gone through those long periods of headaches again after almost 11 years of it.

Sure I still get a headache on occassion like anyone else does..and it lasts as long as it takes for aspirin or tylenol to cure it and that's it...but no more 2-3 weeks of crippling pain.

i have done acupunture and it costs a shitload of money with zero results, plus you have to buy the chinese internal herbs as well they taste worse than anything you have tasted.

I recommend a herbalist, nutritionist or a awesome chiro doc in yr case, i beleive this to be a way more effective plan.in LA that would prescribe weed and give ya card..

The guy I went to received a Masters degree in Acupuncture from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine and a full year of supervised clinical internship. I still won't go back, but I'm happy to hear it has helped a few people here.

I didn't believe in it, but my mom sent me to an acupuncture clinic for my backpain when I was like 14. 1st time sucked. Like on the 5th time I fell asleep and woke up totally relaxed..it was bizarre.

The guy had said it takes a few times to get rid of the pain but I have a big bust so it hurts a bunch to lay on my tummy for that long. He only charges $50 so that's not bad. I might have to try it again now that I know it's helped people.

I'l just have to tell him I can't lay on my tummy like that.

Western acupuncture / acupressure is just not effective

Developed in the far east acupuncture is not practiced in Europe or the USA in the same way as say China. We don't have the time required to spend days sometimes weeks having needles stuck in us. So the quick in and out $80 treatment was developed for the western world. Its no where near as effective. Acupressure and Acupuncture can be very effective if applied correctly in the prescribed amount of time.

One therapy that is surpassing acupuncture is a new ( to the USA ) laser system that uses the meridian points in your body to produce a massive increase of endorphins ( this is what helps reduce or eliminate pain and makes you feel calm and relaxed )

Its just come to the USA from the UK by a company called Matrix Laser Centers and they use it to help people quit smoking. The results are extremely impressive topping an 85% success rate. I believe it will soon be available for Weight-Loss. Stress, Pain, Alcohol and drug addiction, Laser facial's !!!!!

There is no pain from needles no side effects and no drugs ( used in Europe and Canada for 30 plus years )

Sounds to me like the cure of the future http://www.matrixlasercenters.com

My ex husband had it done and swears by it....then again, there's a reason he's my ex husband.....

I don't think you're supposed to feel worse than when you started.

My best friend is an acupuncturist, he's done me a few times, mostly the downtime was relaxing but it didnt really do much for me either way. Personaly I'll take a massage. I think the results depend on how much you put into it, focusing on centering your energy, balancing your thoughts to connect mind to body, almost more therapy for the mind than the body. Did help me stop smoking for awhile tho.
