So the news says that if you don't consent to having your shit searched through, that you will not be able to board the subway or the busses, and that you will be allowed to just turn around and leave. How exactly does this make the NYC mass transit any safer?

I do not believe for a minute that if you refuse the search that you will just be allowed to go on your way, no questions asked.

If the PoPo's have reasonable cause they can get a warrant from a judge.
