network problem.
Hey guys figured someone might be able to help me trouble shoot a home network.
Last night my network choked on me. I can still get an ip but explorer, outlook, wsftp etc etc won't connect. Any ideas short of format c:/ ??? Thanks in advance. |

Check for Virus and Spywares first, and ping your DNS see if it's up or not and try to ping a website to see if it resolves.

Home network? Is it wireless? or? Try going to your IP from another computer, if you have a router it should ask for you to login to it. If it doesn't, then you know your problem is either the router or you simply have no internet access at your home. Are you on DSL? Make sure no one took the DSL extensions off the phone plugs...

Thanks guys. I will try the spyware & virus scanning. Downloading dats now on a different machine.
I can login to the router and ping out from the linksys admin screen. I cannot ping from dos. It's a wired cable connection. I tried shutting down firewall to make sure the programs weren't being blocked. Basically it seems like a machine problem. The same problem occurs if I connect directly to the wall. Again I can get an ip address from RR but no programs can access the net. I'm wondering if AOL software fucked something up. I just installed 9.0 for someone else and this happened 2 days later... Thanks again for replys and suggestions... |

is this on 1 pc or the whole network? If only on one then go to
networks and open up your network connection and goto proprieties and UN install TCP/ip and reinstall the same. The files can be corrupted. From the command line type IPconfig and make sure you have DNS server listed. |
