Why Not Use Pornblogspace Instead Of Tumblr?

http://pornblogspace.com/

It's set up better than any other free host I have ever seen and it's made for adult.

Kaktusan is someone who is known in the industry. If you're an adult blogger you probably already use tools he made like link organizer or blog organizer.

I'm not saying you shouldn't host your own stuff, I'm just saying if you use sites like tumblr you should try this host.

There are also 4 other domains he owns so you can get any sub-domain name you want. Right now it's still in the early growth stage so you have time to build up a lot of traffic.

I have 4 of those and I am pleased with them.

But doesn't seem to bring the traffic like tumblr does. The ease of use and ability to go in and follow other people in tumblr is a plus.

So in short, I use both.

The main point of Tumblr is building a network of voluntary followers, who then can re-blog & share your content with a couple mouseclicks. Their friends then can reblog the material, and so on. Great interface with a huge active community. It's more of a branding tool, and if done properly - i.e. post quality stuff & mix non-marketing stuff in there - you can reach an audience you wouldn't otherwise. Also Google is increasingly favorable to it.

I have a number of my own sites but also have a Tumblr presence for the above reasons, it's not about just getting a free blog, I'd guess anyone still in this industry is long past that point by now.

I look on pornblogspace and see 99.999999% terrible spam blogs by people who don't know what they're doing, so any worth as an actual network is nil.

IMO pretty much apples & oranges.

For blogs I'll never understand why a veteran affiliate would use free services for their main blogs (not feeders or side splogs) as opposed to their own hosting. You can get a hosting account for under $50 a year (less than $5 a month!) and you can buy a domain almost every month for $1 with the specials. I just don't get it. Even now when affiliate revenues are way down. Why take all that risk?

I don't like that they redirect mobile traffic, I make good money off my mobile traffic on my self-hosted blogs.

As has been said, Tumblr is a social network as well as a free host. People aren't using it as an alternaive to paid hosting.

An adult equivalent would need to have social functionality, perhaps allowing webmasters to create profiles and portfolios of their best work. I suppose the nearest adult equivalent is Sex.com , but even that has started to put up obstacles for affiliates.

I don't think this really exists anymore. Back in the glory days all the boards had a steady stream of newbs wanting to get rich off porn, but would hem & haw about plunking down $20 for a domain and hosting because they were idiots & also broke. And so they were all over the free blogs & hosts despite all the drawbacks and the fact that it's just a bad approach.

But those guys are no longer around because porn's not seen as a quick money-maker. Those of us who use Tumblr are doing it for other reasons than because it's free (in fact if they offered some kind of content producer account most of would probably pay), and we have our own blogs/sites too of course.

So IMO the idea of the wannabe webmaster using free hosts because he doesn't have $50 laying around to start a business is long gone, let alone anyone who's a "veteran" as you say.

But... then I look at the sites still hosted on pornblogspace and think maybe I'm wrong on that score. Everything I clicked on there was utter & complete garbage spam though.

Yeah i noticed there is some nasty black hat experiments as well and possibly even malware installs(didnt bother to examine further, but when all pics in blog leads to one file with php extension it makes you go hmm).
But again is not lke tumblr blogs are something special,i think 99% porn blogs there are nothing else then just picposts.

That will kill whatever meager traffic they offer. I'll stick with my own blogs on domains I own.

I mean something where webmasters can interact and link to each other's work, but facing the surfer and allowing surfers to sign up. A kind of hybrid of GFY, Linkspun and Tumblr.

In the "describe GFY in one word" thread, I got to thinking "wouldn't it be great if surfers could see this". I know some of them do, but the majority of them don't. I think that affiliates need to become proactive in showing surfers that we're not all evil nasty spammers that Google makes us out to be.
