Was reading the thread about the death of sponsors. Don't see it happening, but there will be a lot of evolution of online porn.

So what do you think will happen?

It will stay very much as it is now. Some will die out but it will recover when the economy recovers.

It will become dominated by a few big companies.
They will talke over online porn except for micro niceh and a few small Ma & Pa sites.

Most of mainstream porn will be Free to sell ad space. Tubes will have all the traffic, before it hits a place to spend money and selling ad space will be the best way of making a living.

Sponsors and affiliates will adapt to the changing market. We've seen big changes in the last 3 years. Ultimately it's the customer choosing not to pay at the levels they used to. So the industry will evolve to the new world.

Web Cams and Dating will be the biggest part of online porn. Pre recorded porn will just shrink to the point where Web Cams and Dating become the biggest part of online porn?

I think unless we evolve, we will go the way a lot of offline porn went. Bust or shrunk.

The big questions are.

Will we evolve. YES change is inevitable.

If so how? ?????????????

Actually I've always been concerned about the future. Go back and read what I post and understand I used the past as an example.

I agree with you. Then it will be how will they develop?

I doubt if they will be that big, the customer rules and if the big guys stop giving away free porn, then a small guy might grow by giving away free porn. Unless they freeze out affiliates if look like they will become too big.

The future is interesting. Change has to happen. It always does.

I wonder if you'll be in online porn under this nick next year or invent a new one?

I expect I will be alive to see the next few years. Whether you learn decent English by then is another debate. "life long enough"

When I post on a Dutch board, work in an industry that conducted in Dutch. I'll worry about my skills at speaking Dutch.

I doubt if we will be in business this time next year, except for spamming out the content stores at blow out prices. Considering old man has survived 3 years after effectively closing the business down, had to fight cancer for over a year and another year to recover and still make a few $1,000 online. I'm doing fine.

Does this look like I'm in a wheel chair drooling?

Surprised no one has voted for this?

Most of mainstream porn will be Free to sell ad space.

Especially as we're well on our way to this situation.

Ad space could be an affiliates link, still should of made it clearer.

I think more credit card regs will be here soon... after hearing that a certain company who bought up half the adult programs going down has been doing naughty things...

that's why people are using gift cards for memberships.... MAKES SENSE HUH.

But there will always be criminals in mainstream and adult biz.

I think those holding onto their niches well and running their sites good will be okay. Domain names are becoming less important as people live on social networks, and yet archives of good porn will always sell.

We bring extra regulations on ourselves. Remember the culling when CB were reduced to 1%?

The short sightedness of many in this business has led us to where we are today.

It's cost online porn $billions. Truly.

Porn buyers are a small % of the male population 1%-2% in the good days.

Fuck them over year after year and that % drops then plummets.

Cross sales, card banging, fake pills, fake dating sites, hiding cancel buttons, ignoring customers, selling crap sites, spamming members with porn emails that their family might read. Even trading them from TGP to TGP or now Tube to Tube.

Treat customers like crap and they might stop being customers. Did I say might?

And for everyone one of the sites doing the ripping off, there were 20, 50, 100, etc. Sending them traffic to earn a quick buck. When you see the level of intelligence of some (cough ** sparrow) you understand why it happened.

I just did. I thought that's pretty much what tubes already do.

voted 2-5.

But who knows. Unless political pressure makes stealing new content more risky, things for the typical paysite will prob get overall worse for the near future at least.

Porn is basicly going the way of music. Doesnt mean you cant rise above or do something diff or better but momentum is not on the conventional porn paysite's side.

I think the stagnation in terms of new paysites with new content being developed in 2011 echos that sentiment loud and clear.

1) dating and cams already today is the biggest chunk in online porn.
2) if ads are affiliate links, how is most of mainstream porn not already now ad based? Or how was it EVER different? The vast majority has always been traffic feeding sites.
3) big companies always buy smaller ones, that's just standard business

Agreed. Even if political pressure takes out piracy and that's a dream, then the Tubes giving porn away will get most of the traffic.

The problem is as you say, the stagnation of online porn. I posted this in another thread.

Quote:
Putting porn online offered so many great opportunities, it was always going to be major competition to offline porn. The ability to cut out retail, go direct to customers, deliver to markets that previously weren't being satisfied properly (not in the sense many think of hitting areas. As porn if only softcore magazines were available but in the form of niches that weren't satisfied). The ability to change direction, adjust and direct the product to suit the customers needs and more. Later as BW got cheaper and speeds increased, live 1-1, live porn and so much more.

What do we see today?

Sites concentrating on the image quality, churning out the same old scenes porn was churning out 20 years ago. And the flag ship of Manwin is just plain old porn valley porn, without the story line. Even though everyone screams that online porn was setting new standards, meeting needs better and the rest of the BS. It ended up churning out a product that except for HD and shaven genitals, could of been shot in 1990.

Webcams were a development of live phone sex and 1-1 booths in sex shops. Dating, I was a member of a singles club in the 80s. ExGF, loads of magazines had a "Readers Wives" section. There were magazines dedicated to Readers Wives type content where readers would send in photos. I was shooting this stuff in the 1970s.

The only thing online porn did that was ground breaking and something offline porn never did was? Well we all know the answer to that. What are 99.99% of our consumers getting off on?
That's one of the biggest reasons people aren't buying porn. Let's face it and be honest with ourselves for a change. The cost of running a paysite, with good content, hosting, programs, BW, etc. Is minimal. Once sponsors start spending a fortune on free porn, then what's left for the rest becomes less and less. Considering a lot of the other costs are pretty well fixed. The money spent on the members area never was enough.

Join that to the situation that most of those in online porn are computer people, then you see why online porn never developed.

Today Tubes are better than paysites unless you have to have HD. And we know the answer to that.

Agree. I think this illustrates the decline of paysites.
People who were consuming seem unlikely to now go to webcams and Dating in the numbers that were buying memberships.

Agree. I threw it in to see who would realise it. I was knocked off my chair when a big sponsor told me of his hosting and BW bill on his free stuff. In those days members areas held the most content, free areas always held the most surfers.

Quote:

Agreed. Always expected it to happen. Most small businesses and business men are unable to grow and develop. The way its happening today with online porn is what I find a shame. Big Tubes are squeezing out the little guy by soaking up a 1,000 surfers of whom 2 would buy and now lucky to sell to 1. Numbers just to illustrate the point.

But this has always been the case with online porn. The higher the number of surfers climbed the worse ratios got.
