What is Paxum exactly, will it be the next Epass alternative?

I 've been hearing a lot about this and I was just curious what exactly this is, and will it become one of the industry standards much like Epass was?

pimpware 10-14-2010 06:13 AM

I hope so, who knows :winkwink:

TeenCat 10-14-2010 06:14 AM

Well, isn't "Pax" the latin word for peace? :winkwink:

Geez dude, why don't you just check www.paxum.com and you'll know what it is?

Lesa 10-14-2010 06:45 AM

how can you know which atm to use, visa, mastercard etc ?

IllTestYourGirls 10-14-2010 06:52 AM

So who is the new epass? I dont dare sign up with anyone until there is a trend.

Fabien 10-14-2010 06:54 AM

Looks like the biz will pick up this one.

Reminds me about BETA or VHS and we all know who won tho BETA was a better media (go figure)

So i'm wondering if Paxum is THE RIGHT choice.

You know, everything flies so fast these days. Hero one day, looser the next.
I too i'm waiting to see "what's up"...

anexsia 10-14-2010 06:56 AM

I think I'm going to stay with check...and if I were one of the webmasters that got fucked by epass I would be really careful trusting another company like that again...but I do understand non-U.S. residents picking Paxum or a similar company.

Lesa 10-14-2010 06:57 AM

Are they working for visa or mastercard?

Using checks for sponsor payments isn't a problem. But we need an instant way of paying for things like links, traffic, scripts, design work etc. For these things, checks aren't really an option, and wire's are too expensive and takes too long.

Checks the way to go, to be safe leave a few 100 in paypal or other ewallets.
I recall another big company closing there doors on all americans neteller, reason I never mess with epass and only deal with check

It's mastercard based and will work at ATM's wordwide. The daily atm withdraw limit is $2500 dollars :)

you can also use it at any point of sale location ( stores ) aswell as online retailers

Is that $2500 default?

michael.kickass 10-14-2010 07:43 AM

It's probably one of the best alternatives or the best alternative so far.

Maybe it will :)

I would like to know why Paxum is not using some more serious backend than crappy PHP? Also they have only a GoDaddy certificate which is not as trusted as Verisign or Thawte - but i guess they don't need these as they don't have that many transactions per day.... Regardless, I'd like to see new backend written in some more stable language and if possible better security measures incorporated. (opening a .xls and having it in the path is not something I would like to see in a payment system).

Btw. these are all best intention advices, I hope guys at Paxum will take them and try working on them :thumbsup
