It seems to have happened last year though I don't remember hearing a word about it. But her attacker was sentenced yesterday to only eight years in prison. EIGHT YEARS??

It says a minimum of eight years. I think, under British law, that means he could be in much longer, but he def won't be paroled before then. That is probably longer than here for assault.

The Sun never exaggerates a story to get it's more dense readers a bit excited, i'm not saying she was just a bit scratched by the knife but it won't be like he tried to cut her head off.

Eight years minimum means eight years and then a review of whether he is safe to let out. If the Home Secretary or the review board say no they extend the sentence either for a lot longer or until another review.

There is no further word at this time regarding Gold’s condition.

I hope she's OK :( 8 years is barely acceptable for such crime. Another fail for justice.
