Anyone flown Boeing 777 in Biz class?

Is it worth it, comfy? Going to travel for like 20 hours so I am considering, though the price is three times economy.

Daddy Big Nuts 05-04-2010 01:53 PM

Yes. Going that far man.....I personally would have to do it. If you have the $ its worth every penny.

chupachups 05-04-2010 01:54 PM

Yeah I guess so. Often when I have flown far (ec class) my ass feels like I have been sitting on concrete for a day :1orglaugh

Adraco 05-04-2010 01:56 PM

Depending on what airline, they do fit them a little differently. But as long as money is no real issue I would spend it on myself and be fresh upon arrival. 20 hours is a very tough flight, I don't do very many of those during a year and I'm utterly thankful for it.

DateDoc 05-04-2010 01:56 PM

For a 20 hour flight - yes

you can look up the seat size, legroom, etc. on http://www.seatguru.com/ by airline, plane and even flight number.

JFK 05-04-2010 01:56 PM

in the 777 there is 1st class and business class, business is ok , but I doubt its worth 3 times the money:2 cents:

let me requalify this, on the plane I just came to europe on that was the configuration

I dont even want to think about the price for first class lol :D Economy is like 650 euro, biz class about 1700 or so. This would be with Qatar so expect nothing but very good onboard service. I wonder if they have internet?

Btw I am flying athens (or copenhagen) => manila so its about 17 inflight hours.

been there done that, to bangkok, picked aisle exit row seat, so i can at least strech out and the seats will feel like concrete , no matter where u sit:winkwink:

Konkan 05-04-2010 02:26 PM

I flew from London to LA and is worth every penny.

pstation 05-04-2010 02:26 PM

i'd personally never fly anything over 4 hours in coach, but i'm pretty tall.

fortunately I have a mom that works for an airline so i fly in first class free anyway.

grumpy 05-04-2010 02:26 PM

its the only way to travel,no matter which plane ;)

Adraco 05-04-2010 02:28 PM

With Qatar I would definitely go biz. Well worth it!

20 hours, is that not NASA your flying with to the moon :winkwink:

I would pay for 1st if you afford it, but the economy on most long haul flights, especially in 777's are fantastic anyway. We used virgin to the US & found the 8 hour flight sweet.

You must have a stop on a 20hr?

Yes, actually it varies a bit depending on flight - from 16-25 hours - stop in Doha. Seems first class isnt available actually. How much more expensive is that normally?

ruff 05-04-2010 06:04 PM

If you can afford it, do it. 20 hours is a long ride. You'll appreciate the bigger seat.

MaDalton 05-04-2010 06:07 PM

i'd rather spend 20 bucks on melatonin pills and a couple of beers before the flight and then pass out. ;)

I am already bringing mels and the most boring audio books I have :1orglaugh

Barefootsies 05-04-2010 06:34 PM

On any flight that long, pay for the upgrade.

20 hours would be fucking brutal.

dmhubby 05-04-2010 06:34 PM

I've flown in a 777 Megatop in Business Class in the upstairs part on Singapore Air for 23 hours. It was heaven compared to coach. Unless you REALLY need to save the money I highly recommend it.

KillerK 05-04-2010 06:44 PM

dont be a cheap ass and get business

Black Ops 05-04-2010 06:56 PM

Business class on Qatar should be outstanding.

quiet 05-04-2010 07:01 PM

20 hours aint' shit. but yes, i miss flying first class. biz class is still awesome, i just can't justify it anymore, i fly too much. i just us my points for the odd upgrade. 20+ hours to bangkok from Vancouver for example, just get drunk and take some sleeping pills lol.

tical 05-04-2010 08:26 PM

spend the extra $ on sleeping pills

Zorgman 05-04-2010 08:39 PM

Sydney to LA = 17 hour flight.
Return Ticket will cost.

1st Class = $10,000 to $20,000
Biz Class = $7,000 to $10,000
Sheep loading area = $1,312

Personally I can't fly sheep loading area anymore. Im too tall (6f4") and I need biz.

chupachups 05-04-2010 08:44 PM

Just checked Etihad airways biz class. Seems fantastic and just 1500euro roundtrip so I am def. going for that one. Too bad it seems only 0.0001% of all flights have wifi :(

What 777 has an upstairs? I think you are speaking about the 747

As far as I know Qatar airways does not offer a 1st class on the 777 only Business.

The airbus planes they have offer a 5 star 1st class on some of their flights.

Anyway ....it's not just the seat you pay for. You have better meals, drinks, and service. It is well worth the price imo.

Chosen 05-05-2010 03:45 AM

I didn't... :)

its not what you make, its what you keep:2 cents:

Zorgman 05-05-2010 04:12 AM

My mistake, that $1,312 was one way

Sheep loading area = $2,500 return from sydney to LA.
Around Christmas it's about double that if your lucky.

JA$ON 05-05-2010 07:51 AM

Ive never flown it business, but have taken it First class from Miami to LA (American Airlines). Aside from Emirates air and Cathay, its the best first class Ive been on from a room and comfort standpoint. Id assume the business Class is great as well. Its a great plane :)

F-U-Jimmy 05-05-2010 07:59 AM

Business class on American is OK. But if you really want to travel in style try Virgins 1 st class. Its an experience you will never forget as long as you can afford it ?

Very true. Spend the extra for an over night or even a few days and get a hotel. Always did that when flying to the US or Far East. Even when flying Biz.

Eva will not let us fly Biz, she thinks it's a waste of money, so we always have a few night on a midway stop over.

elmy 05-05-2010 08:07 AM

20 hours ? you need B class :)

haha yeah i flew it a lot last yr.. newark-london-dubai-london-newark

its a fucking full bed.. also got a head/scalp massage on board from a hot chic (first class passengers can schedule massages) :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

the fucking lounge in LHR is unreal.. free food/spa/etc

I kept ordering lamb shank.. it was really fucking good...

Virgin atlantic is still one of my first choices for biz travel

Machete_ 05-05-2010 09:24 AM

Eva either:
1.) Doesn't understand how bad coach is on a longer flight or
2.) Is about 5 foot tall and 89 pounds so coach feels like 1st to us taller guys or
3.) Never ever fly's and doesn't care what you go through while flying.

Whatever it is 1st is absolutely worth the price after 3 hours . . .

I think your talking about the 747-400's. 777 is a newer plane and is one floor. Ultra long range, and by far my favorite to fly in.

I personally love First, but some airlines I can't justify it, so I go with Biz. Cathay, BA, NWA have very good Biz. If your on an american line the planes are old and service is next to nothing for the price you pay.

Probably making a stop-over for 2-3 days in abu dhabi/dubai but the longest flight is still 10 hours.

Mr. Romance 05-05-2010 06:16 PM

I have flow on a 777, but I can never justify the additional costs beyond economy. You always get to the same place at the same time:)
