Never got a flu shot and rarely get the flu. Why would I risk possible side effects or death from an untested vaccine? Whats the long term possible effects from it? Will it cause any health issues 30 years from now? 11 deaths in a week?

I won't be getting one, I've never had a flu shot. My gf's son is high risk and gets a flu shot "booster" each year and we will be getting him the H1N1

If your kids eat well, proper diet (generally means completely changing their diet for most people in North America), then they'll be very healthy and will be able to handle most of everything without extreme worry.

1) That is false. You have no clue how many do or do not support vaccination. No survey has been done so you are talking out of your ass.

2) There are kooks in every profession... including the for-profit medical field. If you are a hospital administrator you see this as a financial risk evaluation. If you mandate vaccinations you can not be sued. If you don't mandate them you may be sued. So you mandate them. The issue of whether it is good or bad for the people being vaccinated is not even part of the discussion of the administrators in private hospitals. It is strictly a liability decision...

3) Nobody is arguing that people can not get the vaccine. People are saying that they should not be REQUIRED to get the vaccine. That is not the same thing. If you want to be vaccinated good for you. If someone else does not want to be, they should not be fired for taking control of their own body.

BOTH of my parents are RNs. They BOTH work on critical care floors. There is ONE nurse that my Dad works with in ICU who threw a fit about being required to be vaccinated (the one who believes aircraft contrails are the government spraying us). Nobody my Mom works with even thought twice about it.

My wife is 6 months pregnant with our first child. We were worried about her getting the flu and getting vaccinated. I've done the research. I've asked questions. The risks of getting sick far outweigh the risks of getting vaccinated. Especially for her.

Anyone who has an immune deficiency, is elderly or pregnant or parents who don't get their kids vaccinated are absolutely, positivity, unequivocally irresponsible and pants-on-head retarded.

And when 'your mom' and 'your dad' become a statistical majority of 'all health care workers' you will have a point. Until then you are clueless.

Whether everyone gets it or no one gets it, the flu kills neither less nor more people than it usually does.

In 1997 (read that article in The Atlantic), they got the vaccine wrong. Despite the fact that millions were vaccinated with the wrong shot (basically meaning nobody on Earth got a flu shot that year), no more people died, and some say less people died.

I have the statistical data of two major hospitals unless you think that my parents each singlehandedly run those units. The fact that only one nurse from both floors combined had an issue with it makes it more than a statistical anomaly.

Show proof that healthcare professionals are refusing the vaccination en masse or kindly shut your yap.

To amuse you I called my folks and asked how many nurses work on their floors total. 52 at one hospital (RNs only on that floor), 186 at the other (the 186 accounts for RNs, LPNs and CNAs). There were ZERO refusals to comply with the mandatory vaccinations.

So, of 238 healthcare professionals, 0 refused to be vaccinated.

That said, I'm all for doing more studies. The more the better - if only to see which types of a vaccine against a specific disease have the best results. Still, it would be nice if journalists could at least be consistent in their articles.

If you actually had hospital records from two hospitals they would be in very serious danger of being sued for releasing confidential information to an asshat on a porn board. If your parents took information from hospital HR records and gave it to you they would both be in serious danger of being fired and or prosecuted.

FACT: The OVERWHELMING majority of healthcare workers WANT to be vaccinated because they understand the importance, effectiveness and safety of vaccines. Some asshat's idiotic, uneducated opinion on a porn board has no bearing on that FACT.

Go gather some facts yourself. Call the local health department, your doctor (you DO believe in doctors, right), ask any healthcare worker if they willingly got their vaccinations. I have the facts and they are facts whether you choose to reject them or not.

EVERY hospital that requires that their bedside staff get vaccinated also make exceptions IF there is a reason to make an exception. Being a paranoid, uneducated tool isn't a valid reason to ask for an exception. Good thing you aren't a nurse or you'd be looking for a new job.

Why is it that I see those taking their flu shots, and those kids getting their vaccines are always sick or have these horrible allergies and seem to live their life out of a medicine cabinet, but those 'whackos' who never take these shots or the kids who didn't get their jabs are the picture of perfect health? Enough to make you really question it....

I proved what I could with the information I had unlike you who had zero data to contradict any of my statements. A small cross section of healthcare workers is all I could come up with. I'm not a one man survey company. Until you can show anything other than your obvious disdain for facts I think I have shown I am right (again).

I haven't been sick in years (excluding hangovers). I rarely even take over the counter medications for anything like a headache. I have no allergies with the exception of a severe allergy to idiots.

I had posted this in another thread.

I checked with a CNA that works at the local hospital and she said that all staff members have been given a flu shot...for the ordinary flu...they do not yet have the shots for the "swine flu"...but expect to have it any day. I asked her if it was mandantory for all staff to receive the flu shot...and she said she did not know if there was/is an option or not. She said all staff were told to get the shot and as far as she knows everyone did.

As well as this.

BTW...according to the local paper...in the local schools 1 out of every 5 students and teachers are out with the flu. Substitute teachers are being called in. I am not aware of any reported deaths...thus far.
