First Deer of the Season

My buddy went out Bow hunting last night within 45 minutes of being out he had seen a few does, and then a couple 6 point bucks, he wont shoot anything under a 7 point because its his property and he waits a few years till they grow, after seeing the small bucks a few minutes later this big 9 point buck that weighed around 250-275 lbs walked right into his path and he got a great shoot with the bow, went right through both lungs, Buck fell within 10 yards. He called me around 10pm to go help him load it into the truck because he went out hunting alone and couldnt carry it all the way back without help.

Love bow hunting, much respect to those hunters.

Does your buddy kill to eat or just for the sport?

I'm buying a new bow this year and will be training all winter for next season ;-)

Triple10Terry 10-22-2008 09:21 AM

A true hunter uses a bow and arrow!

Tell your friend nice shot.

Nothing like a venison BBQ to warm up the day

We kill to eat, I dont go out bow hunting, but i do go out for riffle hunting, I have to learn how to shoot a bow so next year I can bow hunt.

We will be eating on Sunday, hes got about 400lbs of venison from last year in the freezer and now we got this fresh 250 lbs also

Nice kill for sure!

Pete-KT 10-22-2008 09:51 AM

Thanks megan

That isn't a prize. It is a victim.

Yes, I understand the why and importance of having a hunting season. I even understand wanting to hunt...

But, celebrating "the kill" especially when it "...walked right into his path..." is like celebrating post count.

So.. by all means, enjoy the meat, but you hunters aren't sportsman, you are nothing more than population control.

Yes, but I don't spike a roast after picking it up from the grocery store.

I think he was disputing the social concept of hunting being considered a sport, not the morality of it.

uno 10-22-2008 11:44 AM

Hey Pete, I've been seriously fiending for venison lately. Can you send me a few steaks or part of the tenderloin?

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 10-22-2008 11:51 AM

Thats a nice one:)

I wouldnt go with a bow though no way I could score it with a Bow.
Deer Season is open here as well, me and my neighbor got a plan to get 2 ourselves:)

TampaToker 10-22-2008 11:53 AM

that thing is frigin huge....

germ 10-22-2008 12:25 PM

I think its only a sport if the animal has just as much of a chance to kill you as you have to kill it.

Im not morally opposed to hunting or eating meat or anything of that nature...I just think a guy sitting 15 feet off the ground with a high powered hunting rifle sniping an unsuspecting deer isnt really much of a sport.

I guess bow hunting is a little more sporty though.

Either way..that thing is gonna make for some delicious eating. Tell him to mail me some meat, since he's sitting on 650lbs of it. :P

Cyandin 10-22-2008 12:33 PM

After losing all my black drum and red drum steaks when i evacuated for Ike, due to loss of power for 12 days, I'm definitely looking forward to filling the freezer with some venison and wild hog.

Pete-KT 10-22-2008 12:35 PM

Haha ive got a bunch of request for venison today :) didn't know so many people liked it

Adult Insider Dave 10-22-2008 12:43 PM

That's pretty sweet man. Gotta give it to those bow hunters, that shit is a challenge!

Marcus Aurelius 10-22-2008 12:47 PM

When I hunt deer I wear a loincloth into the woods barefooted. I chase the deer of my choice down and tear out his throat with my canines. True sportsmanship!

My brother hunted Bear with a bow and impressed the shit out of me @ Christmas with the bear head mounted above the dinner table. That's some ballsy shit right there.
