Canadian Democrats are Pro BitTorrent and Against Throttling
 

Three days before the Canadian elections, the party leader of the New Democrats has spoken out in favor of BitTorrent sites, calling them ?fundamental to democracy.? At the same time, isoHunt, the largest Canadian BitTorrent site advises its users not to vote for the Conservatives, considering their stance on copyright issues.

no, they understand - New Democratic Party in Canada are socialists and old hippies who despise people who are successful and own anything including intellectual copyrights.

Torrent sites are not just piracy havens but also venues where researchers can spread alternative documentaries and such and works very well for that purpose.

True but legit use is probably less than 1%.

and it is a really uninformed thing to lump the american "democrats" with the canadian "new democrats"... just because the name seems similar, it is very different

if you badly need some kind of comparison, you could loosely say that the Canadian Liberal party is probably closer to the American Democrat party and the Canadian Conservative party is more similar to the American Republican party (but generalizing is never completely accurate)

the New Democratics of Canada are probably closer to what you might think of as the Green party with a touch of the Communist party added in :2 cents:
