Travel and working
Im thinking about renting an apartment in diffrent cities around the world for a month at a time and working in each
Good thing about this biz you can pretty much work anywhere with an internet connetion Anyone ever done it? |
Pick one place to live and visit the others whenever you want. I chose Southern california as a place to live. Anywhere else and I can travel.
|
I'd stay in a hotel the first 2 or 3 days and ask the locals about finding an appartment to rent.
There are places where they ask for too many things to rent an appartment and where hotels are cheaper. But a vacation appartment would be fine if you go in high-season. :upsidedow |
Yea i would love to do it ne day just spend about a year going to diffrent places i would have to keep working as im not rich enough to take a year off lol
|
What places would people reccomend that are fairly cheap to start with

The only bad thing about it is.. in most cities youŽll only have business contacts and no one out of your business. That can suck real hard when all your "friends" talking biz 247.. Good advice is to find a nice appartment, stay there for a half year, visit some sport club, do a surfing class.. stuff like that where you have fun and get in contact with other human beeings. If you dont do that you will spam gfy all the time if your in a country you dont like. Take me as example.. :1orglaugh |

No idea if that works out for adult too, but for mainstream it does.. and since a couple of month it works in adult too for me. :pimp |
Lol good on ya
Where abouts are you now? Quote:

Off to the netherlands.. :thumbsup

Just out of intersest do you find the appartmens or hotels before you go or do you look when you are there
|
Most of the time i have visited the country before.. so ill do some research on the internet, call up some real estate companies, make appointments with them.. tell them iam busy and need my stuff fast. If this doesnt work out i will just go the country, get a good hotel and find the appartment on my own. Its not sooo hard like it may sounds or you may think, its just not cheap at all..
Keep in mind you have to stay for an avarage of 2 weeks in a hotel before you found an appartment. That works out like 1.500EUR hotel bill, then you have to eat, get your clothes washed, and stuff like that. Then you found an appartment and you will have to pay 1.500 rent and 3 month rent as caution.. works out 6.000EUR just to move in the appartment + hotel costs.. so you can easily break 10k a month just to find a flat and move in there. |
Forgot to add.. those real tourists cities like amsterdam (my next and old beloved target) is expensive as fuck. You will pay a lot more for food, rent and stuff like that right in the heart of amsterdam. If you move out 50km out of it you can have a much cheaper living. But thats not the point of traveling i think. If you have to think about each dollar twice, its definatly the wrong thing to do..

I travel a lot but it is very hard to stick to the pc if you are somewhere new
|
Hehe i live in the uk so its not so bad im used to it

You also have to consider internet speed. Not every country offers great internet connections.

Yes ;) but living more then month, last travel and work in phuket thai best place ...also
|
that might all work out if you just go to amsterdam or LA and cities like that ... but what if you go to bangkok, bali, dubai, beijing etc ... you have to have internet ... and they might find out what business you are in ...

I've spent time living in Mexico on and off in the last few years and I've really enjoyed it. You absolutely need to maintain one main place to call home though for the purposes of banking. If you aren't being paid via wire, you have to work out a place for your cheques to go and someone to deposit them.
Also, depending on what type of places you visit, you may find that the internet and services for your computer are not reliable. In the village I lived in, we experienced power outages almost every night during the summers so I was relieved to have an extra battery for my laptop. It also took months to get a phone line run in (only had dialup) so luckily I had arranged for it way in advance. It's good to make contacts in the destination of your choice and find out as much as you can before arriving ;) |
That's the good side of working in an online world. So long you have the connection you be anywhere in the world!
But of course, think about also the cost on travelling and leaving in one place to another. :2 cents: |
We do a lot of sailing in the Caribbean and have satellite Internet (KVH TracPhone V7) which makes it very easy to work, although it can get expensive. We have a friend who has been traveling in his RV for the past year and a half doing the same thing.
You really can work anywhere in the world :) |
Here is another bump
|
I did something like this. Started in Baja Mexico and moved up the coast staying in weekly rate hotels (when I got to California). Hit San Diego, Long Beach, Santa Barbara, etc.. Then went over to Tahoe, Reno, Vegas, Laughlin...
When the kids hit 18, me and the GF plan to do this outside the country.. South America, Europe, etc... |
