kmanrox 03-08-2008 03:44 AM

i'd take a very hot shower.. it will relax your muscles and make you feel better. also... maybe that's more for stress, but it works for depression also..

i found this on a website;

If you are suffering from the milder form of depression that can last a few days, there are things you can do to try and get back to feeling better.

* Avoid alcohol and drugs
* Exercise
* Try and get some extra sleep
* Meditate
* Listen to soothing music
* Read a book
* Take a warm bath
* Pamper yourself
* Go someplace completely different
* Try doing something you have never done before
* Stop worrying over things you are not in a position to do anything about
* Actively work at doing things to solve your problems instead of complaining about them
* If you can't work out a problem by yourself, ask for help

kmanrox 03-08-2008 03:45 AM

lastly, i'd open up your online bank account statements, then imagine what most ppl on this forum's bank statements look like, then that should make you happier too ;-)

kmanrox 03-08-2008 03:46 AM

or.. give your mom a call... or ex GF ..

tical 03-08-2008 03:48 AM

go out with some friends

V_RocKs 03-08-2008 03:56 AM

I search out those who have given me some shit in the past and reconcile with them.. Obviously it was you and not me?

V_RocKs 03-08-2008 03:57 AM

Other than that... I smoke a lot of pot and listen to Roger Waters.. I get even more depressed and then I get it...

Get what?

What he couldn't... happiness.

one month without using a computer would be my first step

second step, travel somewhere alone.

third step, do things you normally don't do.

Danny B 03-08-2008 04:23 AM

I just ended a perfectly fine, 6 year relationship. I went clubbin with all of my friends and now I'm hung over.

BUT, I found out I still have my MOJO and that's fucking priceless......

helic0pter 03-08-2008 04:24 AM

When I'm depressed I sleep. It is so nice but really sucks to wake up and realize your problem is still there and you have to get back to reality.

i've had multiple fantasies about fucking the living crap outa you judy. thinking about it again made me feel better.

Mutt 03-08-2008 04:49 AM

I went to a shrink when I was 30 ready to crawl out of my own skin and jump out his window - I said to him 'there has to be something you can do, I can't possibly feel any more fucked up than this with anxiety' - he just stared at me in the way shrinks do, saying nothing really. So I said 'well?' - he handed me a business card - I said 'what the hell is this?' - I was so freaked out I couldn't really even read the card - he said 'it's BlahBlah - group home for mentally challenged adults'. His point was to go outside myself and help somebody else, work that will give you some self worth and feel good about - I did do it for awhile but I can't say it really helped me with why I went to the shrink. I bet it does work for some people.

CarlosTheGaucho 03-08-2008 05:34 AM

just simply read about something real bad, like guys in prison or surviving a bad disease.

Alexander Solzhenycin for example should be a good choice.

WebCashMaker 03-08-2008 05:41 AM

Get some St. Johns Wort from the store.

Go for a walk to get some fresh air and get your blood flowing.

shuki 03-08-2008 05:44 AM

Well for starters can you identify why you think you are depressed? Did a recent event happen that made you feel this way?

Another place to look at is your diet and activity level. You may think that these things are not a big factor but I will tell you that they honestly can make a huge difference in the way a person feels or will react to stress or life.

I know you are up in CA and I will bet it has not been very sunny there for a while. Some people get seasonal affect disorder. Look into getting some Vitamin D from a tanning salon.

Supplement with high dose Fish and krill oils. I use Dr. Sears Zone Brand. Eico-RX 8 caps per night before bed.

Start going to the gym and doing some cardio. Clean up the diet and do all these other things and tell me you don't feel a little better after a month or so.

Get the book "Depression Cured at Last" By Sherry Rogers, M.D.

Read it and follow some of her ideas and plans to detox yourself.

http://www.amazon.com/Depression-Cur.../dp/1887202013

There are a bunch more things that you can do but this is a good start for anyone to do.

VeriSexy 03-08-2008 05:49 AM

a good workout.. then sleep

Try an ionic air purifier.

Negative ions have an affect on your serotonin. Negative ions have been proven to work to make depressed people feel a lot better. Shock therapy also helps. You could shock yourself.

Maybe stop being such a fatty would help, the gym makes a big difference as well.

shuki 03-08-2008 06:08 AM

Some people will say go get on meds....I personally think that is a bad idea and will only cover up the problems not solve them.

Go holistic and cure the root of the problem.

Mutt 03-08-2008 06:15 AM

there was just a study released this week that concluded anti-depressants are pretty much useless in anything but the worst cases of depression where the person is completely dysfunctional because of it.

Eman - PG 03-08-2008 06:47 AM

I've read on Yahoo recently two studies that showed exercise (30 minutes per day 5x a week preferably outdoor) as well as supplementation with Omega3 can have better effects than anti-depressants.

1. Go outside for a walk/run 30 minutes/day. If it's too cold, travel somewhere warm and do that. Sun and UV rays also help combat seasonal depression.

2. Go to the gym 4-5x a week. Get a trainer.

3. Take 1 teaspoon of flax oil and 1 teaspoon of fish oil.

Violetta 03-08-2008 07:00 AM

I play guitar, buy stuff and watch a good movie!

after living 10 years in Africa I'll never get depressed for no reason - ever!!!!

Gunni 03-08-2008 07:53 AM

best thing is change of scenery, go somewhere nice like Thailand.
Even if you don't feel like booking it, just do it and go and you'll feel better when you're there.

Phoenix 03-08-2008 07:56 AM

Great advice. I prefer places like the beach or the mountains where you can appreciate mother nature. Music is always good too I sometimes forget how
good just music can make you feel.

Load up you mp3 player or Ipod and go somewhere new.

Thurbs 03-08-2008 08:31 AM

do something new. get out and just change it up entirely. open yourself up to something scary and new, sounds rediculous when depressed, but once you do some of those things, u'll realize that whatever had you down isn't much to worry about in the scheme of things, u just did a couple things you never did :)
