Can I change my fucking vote? I didn't know Win 2k pro was in the running! That's my choice biaatch!
|
win 2k pro indeed
|
depends on the hardware
if p3 or faster and 256MB+ than XP, otherwise Win98/ME |
Yes my ME crashes alot... So far it looks like XP is a go...
Any more votes??? |
You will like XP better..
Not a real techi but in my experience I have noticed that when some program locks up or whatever XP can close it without a reboot. To me that was worth the upgrade.. |
Depend on what is your computer and what you are running but I never had a single problem with XP.
On the other side, ME is the worst operating system ever done ;) |
XP all the way :-)
|
XP :thumbsup
|
I would say XP. Everytime you think it's going to crash and lose all your work, all you have to do is wait it out and it will fix itself.
Never ever had a problem with it yet. |
Im on the Man's icq ignore list, but ill still help out and say Win2kPro
|
I have no problems with ME. I usually have half a dozen browsers open, Outlook Express, 3 or 4 MSN Messengers going and open and close PaintShop Pro a few times a day plus I have to open MS Access a couple times a day. This all runs on a Pentium III 500 with 256MB of Ram.
I haven't had a Blue Screen of Death in Donkeys Years (that's a long time). All our PC's run ME and I've stayed away from XP because of the security problems and the fact that Micro$quash has SP1 reporting your encryption key back to some database in Redmond, WA. If they can send that back what will they do next? Listen here for the latest security problem with XP: http://cgi.techtv.com/mediamodule?ac...20020910095425 |
i use xp
but i have had troubles with my old programs like thumbmakers and some movie editors and games with it |
I have to use xp - for video editing - win2k has a conflict with studio dv.
but I still got 2000 professional on the laptop - they are both good. used to have ME on the laptop - i had some funkyness - but it served it's purpose too. I expect to have to reboot - it's windows - but so what? |
Win 3.3 and Nutscape 2.4 is all you need..
|
XP is way more stable.
Have done the ME > XP upgrade on a machine without any problems. |

Ok upgrading to xp now. Be back in 45 minuites :)
thanks everyone! Still would like to see comments and votes if anyone wfeels like adding them. |
I have ME and don't understand why everyone hates it. My computer rarely ever hangs, there are no problems at all.
I bought a computer for my girlfriend and XP is installed. XP works fine. Both work fine, I like them equal. |
2000 Pro :thumbsup
|
My XP had never crashed, and ME crashed occasionally. You'll want 512MB RAM for XP though. Upgrade, you'll love it. And you can turn all the graphic features off so it looks like ME. (How foolish it is for those who do not like it because of the graphic effects.)
