Calif. Attorney General files spam suit
 

The Mercury News reports that the California Attorney General, Bill Lockyer, filed suit against Internet marketer PW Marketing LLC, accusing the company of illegally spamming millions of Californians. The suit named PW Marketing LLC and its owners Paul Willis and Claudia Griffins defendants in the suit which seeks "at least" $US2 million from them for allegedly flouting several state consumer protection laws banning spam mail.

I hope they nail their ass good, might make a dent in some of the spam.

All these Attorney General's are finding the easiest things to target (spam,adult websites,casinos.) This way when it comes time for them to run for Governor they can show they put bad bad porno people behind bars. Spam is never going away until people stop making money from it.

Free speech is more important than more money.

I got a spam from Bill Jones last election when he was running for Republican canadidate for governor.

so, allowing a 13 year old kid to see free porn is more important free speech than sending someone an email saying "hey, buy this product"?

It is more important for adults to be able to have free unrestricted access to legal constitutionally protected speech than it is for the government to become a babysitter.

Anyone who claims to be Libertarian or for "less government" or a strong supporter of the U.S. Constitution cannot logically support government control of speech in the name of "protecting the children".

Free speech is more important than any money you think you'll make on massive government regulation of online speech.

Commercial speech is not protected speech, and even if it were - your right to free speech ends when it costs me money, or anyone for that matter. I don't have to pay for your free speech.

Simple libertarian analog- your right to swing your fists ends at my nose.

Spam is theft, pure and simple. I can back this up with facts, and the courts have so far supported this. To you spammers out there: get your spamming in now little scum, your day is coming soon.

As for free porn, I'm all for banning it, although I would hope that would never EVER fly in the US.. Way too many constitutional issues there.

I agree the government needs to stay the fuck out of all of this, but yeah, you know how I feel about free speech :) I just like to press buttons...

I have a different reason for disliking spam...as an opt-in list runner, I hate to see my list covnersions cut in half.........
