US Vacation Tips

I am looking to get away with the wife for a few days in mid January. We are going to Canada and France shortly after so we want to just stay in the US. I was thinking Colorado but she doesn't want to just freeze for a week. I was considering Disneyworld, but we have a Disneyland pass and go 3 times a month.

We'd be looking at 4-5 days and just want somewhere to go and relax and if we feel like it do something adventurous but at the same time have the option to sit by a fire and chill.

Ideas?

For a relaxing time, try Florida's east coast, the Space Coast area. If you have Disney passes, you know the area.

Disney has a very nice resort at Vero Beach that will relax you into a coma.

The Keys are also good, if a bit touristy these days. Maybe some of the middle Keys.

You can snorkel and take day trips from the Keys also, which is a nice time.

For the unusual, if you are into wicked weird, there are places like Gibsontown (I think that's right) where all the circus sideshow performers spend their winters. I understand they are great people to hang out with and welcome outsiders. Or Casa Dega, which is home to a large number of psychics and mediums, if that is of interest.

The most relaxing place I have been in Florida, though, my opinion, is St. Augustine. America's oldest inhabited city (Jamestown, VA was first, but they all died), and a very neat place to relax. The weather there can be a bit cold, in the winter though.

San Diego

We take the kids every year. Plenty to do in the way of watersports, great weather, fantastic food and great hotels if you just want to chill. Feel free to ping me and I can give you a heads up on details.

If you enjoy disneyland enough to go three times a month it would be well worht a trip to see all the other parks around disneyworld.
