My new glasses just cost me $600 !!!

We went out last night and when we go out, I wear contacts... I hate glasses. So, anyways, Perrie had my glasses on her lap and she got up and out of the car and they fell ... neither of us realised.

On the way out of the restaraunt, I get into the car, reverse, and something pops. I didn't think about it ... thought it was a stone or something.

Got back home, can't find glasses. So I drove all the way back to the restaraunt... 30 mins. They're sat on the ground all smashed up. Damn.

So I went today to get new ones for the 1 hour service... and they cost me $600... It's not like the old days ... :(

Anyways .. I can see now, so can work again ... but I just spent the whole day fucking around with that and so I'm not happy.

jonesonyou 08-11-2007 10:06 AM

Are they X- Ray vision.

who 08-11-2007 10:07 AM

That's quite expensive for a pair of specs. Business expense though.

Toreador 08-11-2007 10:07 AM

Christ, they have gold screws?

BSleazy 08-11-2007 10:18 AM

Ya I just got some new glasses and they were about $300 with the exam and after discounts from lens crafters.

sniperwolf 08-11-2007 11:55 AM

:Oh crap that's quite disgusting but glad you have a new one already. :)

TurboAngel 08-11-2007 11:57 AM

That sucks.

:(

fris 08-11-2007 12:01 PM

dave you taking new clients?

rapmaster 08-11-2007 12:05 PM

yeah I spend a lot of my glasses because the brands I prefer are sometimes pricey.. I hate the sound of crunching glasses :[

Casa Nova 08-11-2007 12:43 PM

yeh mine cost me $700 just because the frames were Hugo Boss.

Fashionable glasses are pricey

LadyMischief 08-11-2007 12:45 PM

Lucky dog.. that would barely cover just my lenses :P

Abbie 08-11-2007 12:50 PM

I spent about that much for mine. Mine have a special reflective film for extended computer use. It's certainly helped get rid of headaches I used to get for working in front of the computer for long hours.

edgeprod 08-11-2007 12:53 PM

Yup, mine were the same -- I have to say, though, they're a LOT better quality than what I got 10 years ago for $300 or so.

I've had them about 9 months now .. I wear them at night, after I take my contacts out. Or, if I hit myself in the eye with a cumshot or something.

Depends what it is man ... hit me up ... If it's toons, shout Perrie up ... if it's web designs, shout me ...

I will be honest, we have been through a struggle period of bad management... but we've changed the way we work now and things are back on track. It's been a tough time... not because of lack of work ... but because I can't manage for shit! Perrie's in charge of that side of things now ... boy oh boy does it feel good! :)

Sosa 08-11-2007 02:08 PM

damn, my wife just got her first pair for around $300.

dapanther99 08-11-2007 02:10 PM

Damn...if you triple that you can get lasik...I had it done 2 years ago...

MattO 08-11-2007 02:29 PM

I bet you'll see a coupon for 50% off tomorrow.

I used to date a chick who worked for a glasses joint, she could get discounts on all the fancy designer frames. It's amazing the markups on them.

I know that you needed them, but could you have waited a day or two and saved some of the cash, or would you have lost more than it was worth.

fallenmuffin 08-11-2007 02:29 PM

Mine where $650 and aren't even fashionable. Sucks. Though they are Transitions with Flex Frames and Anti-Scratch lenses.

Doctor Feelgood 08-11-2007 02:50 PM

im sure that lazik eye thingy is going for 250 an eye, or are you afraid?

Afraid ? No. Try $1100 PER EYE here in the UK. Sorry man, but Lazer surgery is NOT cheap here!

For the moment, I'm cool with the glasses... I'm going for surgery but I have a strong eye problem that isn't guaranteed to work with the surgery.

TubeTitans_SusieQ 08-11-2007 03:39 PM

That really sucks hun! Get some Lasik

Sly 08-11-2007 03:43 PM

I have really ugly ones, I bought the frames on sale for $80, but the whole package costs me $300. I usually wear contacts. My girlfriend is trying to convince me to get new ones, there's absolutely no way I'm spending $500 minimum for good glasses to only were once a month.

I'll stick with my daily contacts. It cost me $60 a month but I like them much better.

ridikuloz 08-11-2007 03:43 PM

can't go wrong with some hanger wire and some beer bottle glass

Sly 08-11-2007 03:44 PM

I don't understand why you wouldn't be able to work though. Wear your contacts.

prezzz 08-11-2007 03:49 PM

I know the pain... Just can't work in contacts for an extended period of time and any time I need to get a new glasses, it costs me $400+ even though I don't get any fancy frames...

Well, that's the price you pay for a childhood spent (in part) in front of an 8-bit computer with an old black-and-white tv working as a monitor :)

Matt 26z 08-11-2007 03:55 PM

My bill from Lens Crafters was $80 for eye exam, $180 for frames and $200 for lenses. So $460, but I had a $100 off coupon.

Dude ... I work intensely ... I look real hard at the screen for VERY extended periods of time. Contact lenses, especially ones for my eyes, are NOT for working at computers. When you work at a screen, your eyes stare. You may not know it ... but they do. Contacts have to be continuously moistened, and when you stare, they aren't.

Working at a PC with contact lenses is strongly advised against by optitians. They have a limited amount of time that they're healthily allowed in your eyes too. 8 hours. After that, your eye is starved of the air and water it needs.

You're gonna fuck your eyes up later in life if you work every single day with contacts in.

I've been looking at a computer every day, all day, for close to 10 years. Six of those years I've had contacts, the other four I've had glasses.

If it bothers you, that's fine, just say so. No need to assume I don't do the same thing. They don't bother my eyes at all.

Jace 08-11-2007 04:10 PM

I got lasik like 1.5 years ago and it was the best decision I ever made in my life, I paid $4200 total, and that includes a lifetime guarantee on my vision...if it ever goes bad they will do it again without me paying extra

they can do it for just about every type of eye now, even if you have shit wrong with your eyes

I also put mine on a credit plan the eye place offered, no money up front at all

BTW, if you ever see a doc offering it for $250 RUN...RUN FAR AWAY
with lasik, you totally get what you pay for

my buddy's dad went to one of those $250 an eye places, he is now blind in one eye and the other is losing vision fast, nothing they can do to repair it either

I guess you may consider yourself lucky :)

I have huge problems working in contacts - after couple of hours, no matter how many eye drops I put into my eyes, I need to scrape the lens off my eyes with a knife...

jigg 08-11-2007 05:53 PM

lol those glass places milk the cow

i know someone who worked for one of the largest companies that sells glasses and he got his with employee discount - one pair for $25 regular $250 and the other I think were Ralph Lauren or some other big brand that were $180-$200 regular for $30 bucks. I think the discount was what the cost for the company paid.

too bad i was to lazy to drive 30 miles to get two pairs too

and yes most definitely stay away from $250 lasik surgery they will fuck your eyes up more likely than not!

WEGCash Robert 08-11-2007 08:49 PM

I had a pair of Versace eyeglasses and they were around that much.

I sat on them!

Steve Awesome 08-11-2007 08:59 PM

I also got LASIK two years ago. Fucking awesome. I got me some Bausch and Laum LadarVision for my -7.5 and -8.0 astigmatic eyes and now everything is 20/20. Not more lines under my eyes from my heavy fucking glasses. Best decision I ever made, and they had a one year interest free option so I just paid it off each month until the 12th month. $3600 total. LASIKPLUS.com. Check 'em.
