What's a movie you didn't like the first time but did the next?

You ever hate a movie the first time you see it but enjoy it the 2nd time around? I watched Minority Report last night for the 2nd time and I actually thought it was pretty good but I didnt like it when I saw it at the theaters when it came out. Maybe it has to do with the comfort of your home or that you can pause it and come back to it whenever..

What are some others worth another shot?

Not that I can think of right off hand...however there have been movies that I thoroughly enjoyed only because I either saw it for free, or at a discount, but if I paid the full price would have been rioting in the streets.

Azlord 07-22-2007 11:52 AM

Of all movies, Natural Born Killers. The first time I saw it was in a theater on a date with a real cunt, and I think she blew my mood. I went to see it a few weeks later with some friends and was like, "What the fuck? This is a fucking incredible movie..."

Breakfast of Champions.

woj 07-22-2007 04:21 PM

hmm, why would anyone see a shitty movie a 2nd time?

Chio The Pirate 07-22-2007 04:22 PM

YARGH! If a movie don't float me boat the first time I'd rarely if ever sit through it again.

teg0 07-22-2007 04:22 PM

The Breakfast Club. I was still pretty young when it came out, wasn't in the high school demographic then. Now its my favorite movie.

shekinah 07-22-2007 04:23 PM

Conspiracy Theory...:(

Redmanthatcould 07-22-2007 04:29 PM

The Hudsucker Proxy

Not sure how this happened, but it is a PHENOMENAL MOVIE!

Watch it NOW!!

Axarsys 07-22-2007 05:43 PM

If I dislike a movie the first time I'm hardly the type to watch it a second...

evildick 07-22-2007 05:45 PM

Cabin Fever. For some reason I was expecting some sort of serious horror epic the first time I seen it. I guess maybe it was the recommendations from Peter Jackson that fooled me.

Once I realized it was a great B-movie joke, I really enjoyed it the second time. Gotta love the pancake karate kid.

Saw and Napoleon Dynamite.

tony286 07-22-2007 05:49 PM

Im sorry the only way Napoleon Dynamite would be funny was if I smoked an once of weed beforehand and during.

StuBradley 07-22-2007 05:50 PM

The only one I can think of right now is "The Usual Suspects" although I didn't 'hate' it the first go around. I can think of at least a dozen that get 'better' the more times you see them.

JasonB 07-22-2007 05:51 PM

The Big Lebowski
...now it's my all-time fave.

Exactly what came to mind! One of the only films I've seen that I hated the first time, and like better each time after that. I own it now lol.

On the other hand, eternal sunshine and donnie darko I enjoyed right off the bat.

If I didn't like it the first time,I wouldn't see it again

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 07-22-2007 09:02 PM

I rarely watch movies twice...

However, when I was living in Japan, and if I missed the last train, my options often were either head to an all-night snack shop, where they keep bringing you food whether or not you eat or want it, as long as you stay there, or else all-night theaters.

Well, as fate would have it, I ducked into an all-night theater showing the Martin Scorcese classic "Taxi Driver", with Robert De Niro playing the starring role as "Travis Bickle", and Jody Foster playing a runaway teenage prostitute (which later served as the inspiration for Mark Hinckley's assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan - but I digress).

So anyway, I'm drunk off my ass with some Shinjuku bar girl, and I fall asleep as soon as the movie starts. Anyway, I wake up when the shooting starts at the end (around the time Harvey Kietel's thumb gets shot off).

I did this three more times during the night - it was like a bad dream.

Other movies which I fell asleep at the first time, but later enjoyed are:

2001: A Space Odyssey (stoned and I missed all but the psychedelic sequence my friends woke me up for)

Dune (that is one seriously slow, long ass, movie)

Paris, Texas (I kept waking up every 10 minutes, and it was like I had missed nothing)

Gone With the Wind (my wife finally made me stay awake through it, although I'm still not sure if I enjoyed the sleep the first time, or the movie, better)
