Does anyone here know anything about the modded XBOX 360 being banned by Microsoft?

Does anyone here have their XBOX 360 modded?
If so, did you hear about the ban that Microsoft finally placed on all XBOX Live accounts that have the modification installed?
Rumor has it, that you have to go an buy a whole new XBOX if you wanna go online.
Is it possible to remove the mod so that we are able to access LIVE again?
I've been a huge XBOX supporter for a long time and I had a moment of weakness the other day and got mine modded...I deeply regret it because it isn't something I typically do. I dont download free music from the internet and I definately should have thought twice about getting my console modded. I havent even had it modded long enough to get any games...

In any event, does anyone here know if its possible to reverse the mod and get my XBOX back into its original state, so that i can get back onto XBOX LIVE?

candyflip 05-18-2007 11:58 AM

Once the console itself has been flagged, it's done and you won't be getting it back online. Time to buy yourself a new one.

You can reverse the mod, but it might already be to late for you. If you haven't played any games and haven't connected to live since modding, you may be ok...but I couldn't say for sure.

Problem with this whole thing was that a HUGE number of non modded consoles were shut down in the process and LOTS of people are very upset.

We'll have to see how it all works out.

So, I guess Im buying a new XBOX today...lol.

candyflip 05-18-2007 12:53 PM

So you did get banned?

jgabra62 05-18-2007 12:54 PM

Yup...it wont let me back on to XBOX Live anymore...I was pretty bummed.
Oh well, I guess I deserved it, lol.

Can you still play games, just not get on XBOX Live?

Yep...no bricking of the boxes, just the console banned from Live.

Your account is still active, and can be used elsewhere (they wouldn't want to make their subscriber list look smaller now would they?).

_Richard_ 05-18-2007 01:01 PM

what is the mod exactly? it allows you free access to content on xboxlive?

candyflip 05-18-2007 01:02 PM

Here's a post worth watching:

Ill raise that and buy it for $115 :)

jgabra62 05-18-2007 01:10 PM

The mod just lets you play burned games...

jgabra62 05-18-2007 01:12 PM

I will gladly sell it for $175...no less.
I paid over $400 for the damn thing, lol.

You could probably get more for it on eBay. I still get $60 - 75 a pop for broken
XBOX1 units. I'm sure there are plenty of people that would pay close to retail price for a modded unit that can't go on XBoxLive.

I love the Live setup, so I've made sure I don't do anything to fuck it up.

I never said I didn't have a modded 360 :winkwink:

Always good to have a backup in the next room. I also buy and sell a lot of used games, so that's never a problem either. I think I have most of the entire 360 collection on hand at the moment.

Anyone need a copy of Oblivion? I just counted and have 10 of 'em. :1orglaugh

Sosa 05-18-2007 02:17 PM

Have two machines like candyflip just mentioned. I might be interested in tat modded one. I haven't looked into all of that in a long time though.

seeric 05-18-2007 02:21 PM

if you have a modded xbox and are using a live account you are a total moron.

seeric 05-18-2007 02:23 PM

no offense. microsoft is big brother and see all inside your machine. same was the case with reg xbox. if you get it modded its common knowledge to never log into a live account.

I've had one on there for a while now. Still haven't gotten the banhammer. It's only a matter of time, but it's also only a matter of time before theirs another workaround. I'm not really worried either way.

I don't play much online, but I do pay to download a lot of movies and downloadable content. Maybe they have totaled that up and see that I'm a good paying Live customer. My girl and I were acutally just talking about canceling the cable account and use iTunes and XBLM for all our TV and movies watching.
I've spent almost $200 on there in the past 2 months and that was without being connected for the last 2 weeks.

Lots of speculation as to who was banned and why. Lots of non modded boxes have been knocked down in the process.

I did dust off the PS3 and fired up Resistance for a bit today. I don't think that was the effect Microsoft is hoping for. They'd rather see you buy another 360 for online gaming.

watcha got for sports games and how much?

candyflip 05-18-2007 04:09 PM

The sports games are mostly the ones I try to stay away from. As soon as the new game hits, the old ones are worth about $.75 :1orglaugh

I've got College Hoops 2K7 and the newest WWE title. They just happened to be sitting on top of the lot I just got in today. Not sure what I've gotten for them in the past, but I'm consistantly $5 - 10 less than EBGames/Gamestop.

Drop me a email with a want list and I'll see what I can do. I've got a few more boxes of used stuff coming in next week.
