2257 - hosting in europe?

Hi Guys,

if we were to be hosting a box in europe, dedicated server, does the 2257 still matter? ie - must we worry about having it, and keeping it updated with information?

Thanks,
Doctor Vertigo

2257 doesn't depend on the location of the hosting, but instead on the location of the business.

We offer hosting in Amsterdam, Netherlands if you are interested. It should give you some protection but the best model is to move your corporation outside of the US.

and if your are going to move the corp, might as well move your ass out of the USA ... before they throw it in jail like the neteller guys ....

But if the company, the hosting and YOU are outside of the US, the 2257 doesn't apply at all?

Just like in the movies when they cross the Mexican border.

2257 - no one knows exactly, some say this, some that ...
for hosting in Europe, try Exmasters' gift - $0.29/GB for galleries, or
Adult European Host - hosted in Amsterdam.

Chilihost.nl is the offshore hosting arm for NationalNet / Chilihost. We can offer you dedicated servers starting at $325/mo.

FYI, if you are a USA business, hosting offshore will not "save you" from 2257 but I can tell you that it would be impossible for a USA DOJ to walk into our NL datacenter and unplug your server for 2257 violations and NL authorities will never shut down a server for 2257 as its a USA regulation.

cheers,
Luke

Why are you so concerned with avoiding 2257 records?

If youre reselling content you'll have them provided to you.

If notand youre making content, assuming youre not doing anything wrong, the time/cost of upkeeping records is slight. And you won't find anyone to buy it without those documents good to go..

I don't get it.
