I don't know too much about Obama (other than folks seem to love him here in Chicago), but from what I've seen just the very limited number of interviews/etc. he seems like a decent, smart guy.

I wish more people voted on the actual PERSON rather than the stupid useless party.

That said, I feel Ventura was one of the most interesting and down to earth people in politics I've ever followed. So perhaps I'm a bit off the norm. :)

thats not exactly new information its been discussed by virtually every political commentator for the last 2-3 months.

It's been out in the air for a long time. He opened talked about it a year ago when he published his first book. Nothing new.

I can't put my finger on it, but I really like this guy. I'm going to have to do a little research on his campaign before I can say I would vote for him, but something about the way he carries himself really speaks to me. He just comes off like an honest, no bullshit guy. Again I have to do a little research first, but everything I have seen so far makes me say I would be proud to have him as the leader of my country.

It probably won't hurt him to bad. the only people that will be truly offended are those on the far right and they weren't going to vote for him anyway. Most typical Americans that reside somewhere towards the middle of the political spectrum went to college or had years in their early 20's where they drank, smoked a little weed and experimented a little bit. It makes him human and normal.

I think your next election down there will be interesting since every candidate can run on the "Im not George Bush" campaign platform - the democrats might have to put a up a candidate that people will actually vote for for reaons other than his (or her) not being george bush.

I think he's got as good a shot as any - I'd be happy if the US votes him in. I think he'll do a fantastic job as president. Then again - with the last run, I think anyone can do a better job.
