Bomb Squad finds C-4 at Miami Port

Crazy stuff, after that scare with the truck earlier.

Smell of gas in NYC, birds die in TX, and now C4 in FL? What the fuck? Is it some kind of fucked-up news holiday? :Oh crap

munki 01-08-2007 01:04 PM

What kind of fucked up terrorist would blow up his friends in California? I don't think even the looniest of the loony bad guys would be THAT stupid. It's the only support system they've GOT in the U.S.

Here's something funny, too:

Quote:

MIAMI (AP) -- A judge on Monday dropped trespassing and other minor charges against three Middle Eastern men from Michigan who sparked a brief and unfounded terrorism scare at the Port of Miami.

Officials initially said the permanent U.S. residents from Iraq and Lebanon were caught trying to slip past a checkpoint in a cargo truck at the port's entrance Sunday. After a bomb squad search, authorities determined their freight of automotive parts was harmless and the incident stemmed from a simple miscommunication.

Still, local police charged truck driver Amar Al Hadad, 28, on Monday with resisting an officer without violence. His passengers were a relative, Hussain Al Hadad, 24, and Hassan El Sayed, 20, police said. Both were charged with trespass, and Hussain Al Hadad also faced the resisting charge. All are from Dearborn, Mich.
Really amusing timing, sucks to be those guys, caught doing that, then there's some sort of C4 at the same port. Even if they aren't involved (which is the report), they may get fucked.

Terrorist explosive of choice. C-4 was also used on USS Cole and Khobar Towers.

They've changed the headline since. It's on many of the news stations, on and off.

CNN originally said "test positive for C4 at Miami port" .. it was supposed to be loaded on a cruise ship. Because I cruise so much, that fucking ... blows.

crockett 01-08-2007 01:44 PM

So I bet they will be looking for those 3 guys now. Way too much of a coincidence to not be connected.

Maybe so. Sucks for them, they might be completely innocent. Maybe not, too.

Royal Caribbean International issued this statement at 2:30 p.m.:

"At approximately 2 p.m. today, an explosives detection device routinely used by Royal Caribbean International to screen supplies being loaded onboard its ships gave a positive reading for a pallet of provisions being prepared for Majesty of the Seas. The company followed its security protocols and notified the U.S. Coast Guard, the FBI, the Miami-Dade Police Department and the Port of Miami so the matter could be investigated further. To assist in that process and further ensure the safety of its guests, Majesty of the Seas is being relocated from berth G to berth F at the port. Royal Caribbean screens 100 percent of all luggage, carry-ons, provisions and people coming onto its ships. That screening is done with X-ray machines, metal detectors, sniffer dogs and various other methods."

I have had C-4 a couple of times, it's easy to get your hands on and it's fun to play with for sure

Haha, that's awesome. This part is my favorite:

Quote:

MIAMI, Florida (AP) -- A package at the Port of Miami which tested positive for plastic explosives was determined to be harmless, authorities said late Monday afternoon.

The suspicious package that was to be loaded onto a cruise ship was tested six times, and each time it came back positive for the military-grade explosive known as C4, the Coast Guard said Petty Officer James Judge.
I mean, shit. ONE false positive, sure .. but SIX? Shit, someone needs to get their act together down there!

Either that, or they didn't want to totally fuck the cruise industry.

Scottish Guy 01-08-2007 03:11 PM

I have to say cnn and the other american news channels always jump to conlcutions and get proved wrong each time why could they not just say a "suspect package" instead of saying its definetly c4 explosives

I didn't hear that. I heard them say it tested positive for C4.

Damn foreigners, always jumping to conclusions. Or "conlcutions," I guess, in your neck of the woods. :1orglaugh

well if you look at the testing , it was tested 6 times and each time the result was positive , shit with a return like that what are you going to believe

i like this part , sort of reminds me of mythbusters, "lets blow it up anyway"

The package was then destroyed, and a Miami-Dade County police bomb squad determined it contained sprinkler parts

aico 01-08-2007 03:31 PM

So basically, now all Terrorist have to do is shape the C-4 into sprinkler parts. Seems so Caddyshack-ish to me.
