Do You Think All The Poker Pros Will Have To Find Real Jobs Now?
Since partypoker/golden palace/888 won't be doleing out the huge cash for tv tournaments and such...
What do you guys think? Are the Daniel Negreanu's and Doyle Brunson's of the world going to have to look for jobs at Mcdonald's anytime soon :upsidedow DH |
can you elaborate more?
is this an online thing? |
The big guys will still play the Vegas tourneys.... the big online guys will convert to 3rd party processing

there will definitely be less money in the business which will increase competition...so some poker "pros" may in fact end up in mcdonalds or some other crappy job after they have put themselves in shitload of debt..
They could probably retire without working again..I wouldn't feel too bad for them
I met a guy who made his living playing poker online dont know what happened to him.

very sad to see the online poker industry fall :( |
ya this really is a fucking shame
no, i think they will be fine
Poker pros were doing just fine long before that shit was on TV or online.
they will just play more underground games probably.
The poker pros will still walk into the Bellaggio on any given night and win money from the tourists and heavyweight gamblers who really don't know how to play. There's an endless flow of money coming into Vegas, and they can live off of that forever. Phil Ivey makes $10 million a year without playing any tournaments (or so says Daniel Negreanu, a friend of his).
Poker Pros make far more money outside of big named tournaments when you don't take endorsements into consideration. Just the prize money.
Daniel Negreanu for instance has not made shit in tournaments when compared to some others (take the Fossil Man as an example) but he makes a killing by taking tourist money and big games the poker pros put together where they invite morons who own businesses to come lose hundreds of thousands in a night. You are correct in one thing though... That 12 million dollar prize was 1/2 online poker seed money from the sponsors... 6 million will no longer be there to give away next year. |
I'm sure some are taking hits, but there's too many "live" card rooms around for them to give up their pro poker jobs.
i think they are making money not only of these championships
ye[, there probably looking for job now.

Doyle and and the rest of the pros, have made millions before the internet and they will keep on making it. But the guys who play online for a living will be working at Mickey D's :winkwink: |

As for online players, there has be such a huge drop in online playing, finding the $20/$40 to $50/$100 tables is harder then it was a few months ago, which is where most of these guys make the big bank online. I give it about another few months and all will be close to what it was before the new bill was passed. |
online gambling wont die, a lot of sportsbooks, poker, sold their companies, and went private.
The big names make their money from live games and sponsorships. They will be more than fine. The online grinders in America may have a bit of trouble. There are still several big sites that accept US players for now atleast. I'm just glad i live in Europe.
the big guys have enough money to retire...
