Will Bush's Ratings Go Down for Failing to Rescue Americans From Lebanon?

This is looking like it could be a disaster on the scale of Katrina.

CNN reports something like 50 of 25,000 Americans have been evacuated. And those were on a French ship.

The Greeks, Italians and others have gotten most of their people out.

Good luck Americans in Lebanon. Hope none of the Israeli bombs get you.

Deputy Chief Command 07-17-2006 08:13 PM

hmm, Americans in Lebanon = terrorist ? and thus better of dead ?

Sounds pretty much like the plan right there.

Seriously... and not joking. They don't give a shit.

Bush is playing silly assholes at the G8 Summit and the legislature is doing what? Discussing stell cell research.

FreeHugeMovies 07-17-2006 08:43 PM

Stupid thread. 25000 and it's not Bush's problem it's the Pentagons. If they move some of them by sea, it will be accompanied by an American Destroyer. The rest are being evacuated via chopper to Cyprus.

Paul Waters 07-17-2006 08:44 PM

CNN reports that a Greek cruise ship has been hired....

... and Americans being evacuated will have to pay for it.

Wow.

"""Most of the 28 countries on the State Department's ''travel warning'' list last week were not likely to be surprises to anyone who follows the news, since many have been there for two years or more. The current crop of countries considered unsafe includes Afghanistan, Albania, Burundi, Colombia, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Macedonia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, Tajikistan, Yemen and Yugoslavia.""""

Conservative Republicans are being evacuated by air. The rest (Liberal Democrats) will have to wait for that Greek ship.

Wow.

Why wouldn't they have to pay? Life isn't free, they were warned of going there anyway.

Hey, if somebody wants to run into a burning house, I'm not going to stop his free will. But I'm not going to pay for his band-aids either.

pussyluver 07-17-2006 09:06 PM

There are some other logistic issues. How many people did the other countries have there? If there are thousands of US citizens, they all won't fit on that boat + what to do once they get to Cypress? Rent 20,000 rooms at the Hilton? Oh, book flights for that many people in a day or two... That's a major airlift.

Moving 20k out of New Orleans in our own country was quite the task in itself. Now we're talking people on the other side of the world in a war zone. Some people would have you believe that snapping fingers magically makes things happen.

gideon 07-17-2006 09:13 PM

They are trying harder to evacuate the people in Lebanon then they were in New Orleans..

pocketkangaroo 07-17-2006 09:16 PM

Not to be a dick to those in Lebanon, but tough shit. It's not my responsibility to pay for your ass to get out of a instable country. It's time people started being more responsible for themselves.

Xplicit 07-17-2006 09:19 PM

Anyone whos still pro-bush isnt going to change their minds over this.

You must be a dumbass.

ColourMeHuman 07-17-2006 09:19 PM

Mr. Skull and Bonesman has had the lowest approval rating in history and has spent more money than all US presidents combined. Just the stats alone tells you he's the worst president we've ever had. of course his ratings are going down.

pocketkangaroo 07-17-2006 09:21 PM

I still don't understand how Republicans support him still. It goes to show you that it's not really about what they do as much as being part of a little club. Bush governs more like a liberal than a conservative.

This really isn't a love or hate Bush issue like many in the thread are trying to make it.

Bush does a lot in secret. Maybe that's the best way or not? If he did do something right, CNN isn't gonna give him good press and they will find the worst of it they can.

That said, don't call me a Bush lover. I want my civil liberties back!!!! Plus I have problems with much of his secret wars.

Actually many prominent republicans do not support him. You need to stop thinking in terms of left/right too. That's a false paradignm spoon feed to us by the corporate controlled media.

He spends just like a Democrat. Difference is that Democrats tax to spend while he just borrows.

I don't think in terms of left or right. But our government does as well as most of your media. It is so bad that there are still a percent of people who approve of Bush despite him being the worst President in our nation's history simply because it has an R next to his name.

I wasn't even speaking on behalf of Bush. He doesn't sit there on the phone calling Durka Durka Airline begging them to fly people out of an airport with a busted runway, somebody else does it. Probably somebody pretty low level too.

For people to sit around and think that absolutely nothing is being done is just plain silly.

But you have to remember that those people that work under him and are responsible for getting those people out are probably completely incompetent. Just look at Homeland Security and FEMA.

Mr. Soul 07-17-2006 10:25 PM

Bush has already done so much wrong, his support can't possibly get any lower. At least 30% of this country will never be able to admit they were wrong. They'll follow him into hell.

tony286 07-17-2006 10:28 PM

I dont think all the americans there are tourists probably a bunch work for american companies over there. If americans start dying ,he is going to have a problem.
