Very unhappy with GoDaddy.com

I wanted to switch to a different registrar than Network Solutions because they charge the highest domain name registration of $35/year. So, I went with GoDaddy.com . I figured I'd try to transfer one domain and see how easy it is and then transfer the rest. Long story short - I'm requesting a refund and transfering my domains back to Network Solutions.

So, my question is - has anybody else had problems with GoDaddy.com ? And what other registrar is better than Network Solutions but charges less?

WWC 05-01-2006 01:17 AM

bulkregister.com is the best

Solid Bob 05-01-2006 01:18 AM

I've had all of my domains (40 to 50 at a time) with godaddy for years with no problems. What happened?

skinnay 05-01-2006 01:30 AM

godaddy is god

KRL 05-01-2006 01:38 AM

GoDaddy is fine if you have an executive account rep.

Go with NameCheap (dot com). I've been using them for a while now with mainstream domains and they have been nothing but top notch - not to mention they'll renew/register you domain for less than $10/year.

BigPinPin 05-01-2006 03:33 AM

I would go with namecheap. Great support and great interface without 1 million adverts. I used godaddy 3 years...no problems BUT if you will get a problem with them, it could grow to your biggest and your last one...support sucks, the adverts suck even more. I wouldnhahaha180;t let my income at godaddy...

just my oppinion

Choppa 05-01-2006 05:06 AM

namecheap :thumbsup

Tuga 05-01-2006 05:10 AM

I had a big problem with godady. I still use them tough.

pstation 05-01-2006 05:13 AM

ever since godaddy dropped a friend's domain (hahahahahahahahahahaha) suddenly without contacting them, i immediately transfered all my domains away from those fools

hmm, guess their domain is banned here :Oh crap

talk to that you'd like a lockin # at that price..
Good Luck

Because of what happened with the whole godaddy & wegcash problem a while back, I would never use them. I'm surprised people in the industry still use godaddy after what they did. If you value your business I'd suggest namecheap.

Pete-KT 05-01-2006 05:50 AM

Never had a problem with godaddy been using them for 6 years

baycouples 05-02-2006 12:59 AM

Can somebody tell me what's so great about the namecheap.com? I'd love to switch, but I do want an easy transfer, good customer service and good management interface.

Why does everyone on GFY support Namecheap? They aren't even ICANN-accredited. They are just resellers.

gooddomains 05-02-2006 02:50 AM

what happened with wegcash ?

Matiz 05-02-2006 04:10 AM

Moniker is the best registrar!

princess 05-02-2006 04:18 AM

I've used domainsnext.com for many many years. They're cheaper.

All I gotta say about godaddy is make sure they always pay you up front.

The Duck 05-02-2006 04:23 AM

namecheap all the way

What I should have said was, if you value your business, don't use godaddy.

I've been using them for a few years and have only had one issue with them which was a domain auto-renewal that I could have sworn I set to not renew. Even though it was most likely my mistake, I sent one email and that issue was resolved in less then 24 hours. Including issuing of a refund.

Shocking 05-02-2006 08:51 AM

i've been using godaddy for a while and no porb yet. but i do know some bad stories about them!

baddog 05-02-2006 10:29 AM

I don't recall ever having a problem with GoDaddy and we have hundreds of domains registered there.

BannerDept 05-02-2006 10:36 AM

I've been with several...I prefer registerfly.com

though they can be kinda slow at times :pimp

u-Bob 05-02-2006 10:39 AM

use namecheap or moniker...

Z 05-02-2006 12:17 PM

I've got over 250 domains at GoDaddy and have only had one problem. They resolved it quickly and easily.

My only beef with them is transferring domains in. Their process is flawed. Though to be honest, most of that beef is with Pool.com. I FUCKING HATE that they transfer the domains to shithead nobody registrars for 60 days, then you have to transfer them away again.

teksonline 05-02-2006 12:36 PM

godaddy sucks, by far the worst in the biz

http://www.enom.com (contact me 4872121 for a free 7.95 reseller account)

GTS Mark 05-02-2006 12:38 PM

I have over 100 domains with godaddy, they seem fine to me.

RayBonga 05-02-2006 12:42 PM

Never had a problem with godaddy.

dakota1358 05-02-2006 12:59 PM

Been using godaddy for like 5 years and never had a problem.I hear the horror stories but never happened to me........yet

minusonebit 05-02-2006 01:06 PM

ALL registrars suck. There is no such thing as a good one.

Sly 05-02-2006 01:09 PM

I have about 700 domains with Go Daddy. Never any problems. My account rep pretty much takes care of anything I need.

baycouples 05-02-2006 01:22 PM

OK. I appreciate some of your GoDaddy supporter, but there is no fucking way I'm giving those fuckers any of my money. I've registered one domain and transfered another as a test and their instructions were all wrong, their customer support was horrible and didn't know what to do and it took like a week to complete. So, fuck 'em.

Meanwhile, what's so good about NameCheap.com service?

Alex

Goblin 05-02-2006 01:37 PM

+ godaddy is good

selena 05-02-2006 01:40 PM

I've never used anything but GoDaddy, and haven't had any problems.

fitzmulti 05-02-2006 01:53 PM

I have hundreds of domains @ godaddy and have NO problems, ever.
I can't imagine how or why you had an "issue".

I tried to transfer a domain. I was given instructions. I've followed them. I checked back in a couple of days and the domain name was still not transfered. I've emailed them and asked why? They said that I had to "unlock" the domain from my old registrar. Why it wasn't in the instructions even though they knew that NetSol locks their domains? Then I followed a new set of instructions and the domain wasn't transfered again. I've written them an email telling them to stop fucking around. They replied back repremending me for using curse words and threatening not to take care of this issue if I do. It's only now my domain has been finally transfered. I've asked for a refund and a release of the domain - they said they won't give me a refund.
