the only way to stop and STAY quit is if you *TRULY WANT TO* stop. If you dont want it bad enough, you wont stop. Think about it, most people would love to stop smoking but deep down, they have their "reasons" why they dont. (its a bad time right now, i'll cut down, its too hard, none of the meds work, i'll stop tomorrow, etc)

Ya gotta truly want it. :) Once you get tired of coughing, wasting money, having things turn yellow (the walls, your teeth, etc) then maybe thats when you'll say enough is enough. Check out that website i mentioned, it REALLY helped me out!!!! ALOT!!

Im the last person that everyone thought would stop smoking (i loved it so much and smoked 2+ packs a day). But i did it. And you can too...just stop making excuses and just DO IT already! :winkwink: :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup You can do it!

hmm lets see...i started smokin when i was 14 (a pack a day'ish, had a hard time getting them sincei was so young)......then when i hit 16, it was 2-3 packs a day (the corner store never carded me). So i'd say 2 packs a day for around 8 yrs straight.

madawgz 04-12-2006 12:56 PM

selena 04-12-2006 12:58 PM

Fantastic job. :)

You should be very proud of yourself.

Ayla_SquareTurtle 04-12-2006 12:59 PM

my boyfriend has been trying to quit for a while. He is down to just a few, maybe even only 1 on some days.... but he just cant make that plunge to none. I think its absolutely one of the most disgusting things you can do... I try to motivate him, but of course it really has to come from the person doing the quitting or it will never work.

Just_Dave 04-12-2006 01:03 PM

that is good stuff

smokers never grow old.

they die young.

congrats Baba :)

jigga 04-12-2006 04:07 PM

Congrats, I haven't smoked for 2 and a half years now....after about three months I didn't miss it at all really.....

I tried a few times to quit but never had any success. The last time I got sick with the flu for like a week and didn't feel like smoking cause of a sore throat etc. I also watched the movie "philadelphia" (tom hanks, aids, dying) and for some reason it finally hit me hard that cancer will kill you just like that (being in my 20's i've always had that invincible attitude).

Mr.Right - Banned For Life 04-12-2006 04:09 PM

Congrats and well done.

Spunky 04-12-2006 04:10 PM

Good for you..I gotta try again

I agree, I have been on welbutrin, the patch, all the gums, smoke away, used the little lifesigns computer, hypnosis and I'm even looking into the new laser treatment. The longest I seem to be able to go is 2 weeks without a smoke. Then I become a real bastered and all hell breaks loose. My father quit for 5 years then started again right where he left off. I'm getting to the point where I just say screw it and keep smoking cause nothing works for me. Ya, I have the will power of a leaf I guess.

Antonio 04-12-2006 05:09 PM

congrats, I think I'm approaching two years since I quit, can't remember the date though
