Verisign - Scammers
 

Today I got a letter from VeriSign asking me to renew my domain.
They sent me a nice looking letter with a form to fill out and was also asking for my cc info. Right about as I was going to start filling it out, I relized something. I have never registered a domain at verisign inc, why the fuck would they ask me to send cc info via mail(they should have it on file), and my domain doesn't expire for another 10 months.

I did some searching around and found this:

fucking scammers.

On that site..you'll see a link calledl 'please click here'...3rd paragraph down...

Now, if you click on it..you see the 'letter' that Verisign is sending out...

Now, first off...if you went with any other company to register your domain name...then why are you even reading this shit to begin with?

Second, the form CLEARLY states the words:
"Renewal AND Transfer Authorization" on it!

So, if you didn't see the Verisign logo and these words..well..that's not anyones fault but yours alone!

IMHO if people want to be that stupid then they desere to be duped..I mean.. I've read shit berfore I sign it, how about you?

I agree that the tactics are obviously suspect...but it's all you 'market' your product/service(s)

So personally, I'm not going to be mad at VeriSign for taking advantage of willingly ignorant or stupid people... these are people that can help themselves and they choose not to

If they list your domain in the email, they are scamming big time.

If not..buyer beware.

A number of customers have reported to directNIC that their domains
disappeared from their directNIC account after they responded to renewal
notices by snail mail. It turns out that they actually transferred the
domain to another registrar who had sent them a renewal notice by mail and
urged them to renew the domain immediately. Without knowing that these
notices were not from directNIC, these unsuspecting users transferred their
domains away from directNIC, paid a much higher price, lost their virtual
domains, erased their email forwarding rules and POP3 accounts, and
consequently took their websites offline.
