LoveAsianChicks 04-17-2002 09:53 PM

Christ sakes this American "friendly fire" has got to stop. During the gulf war I watch Americans destroy their own fucking tanks! Morons - now they bomb Canadians.
Too many accidents happening!

bdld 04-17-2002 09:54 PM

errant?

capribex 04-18-2002 01:22 AM

most american combat deaths, coalition troop deaths and civilian deaths in war time - since the gulf war - are the result of "friendly fire" (why the fuck do they call it "friendly"...)

in this recent conflict alone, more than 600 Afghan civilians were killed by errantly dropped bombs by US jets.

accidents happen every day on the road, at home and at work. while when most accidents happen nobody gets killed (like, when you accidently reformat the hard disk of your bosses computer) - when doctors and soldiers make them, people die.

at least, unlike most other civilian organizations (including hospitals), they do investigate and change rules and regulations after each accident, to try and prevent further accidents from hapenning.

if only the same could be achieved in civilian circles, there would be 90% less traffic accidents and tens of thousands of American and Canadian civilians would still be alive.

Pathfinder 04-18-2002 01:23 AM

The military trains as close to actual combat conditiions as possible. During live fire exercises it is not uncommon to have deaths or injuries. There are always investigations to see if there was gross negligence involved or mechanical malfunction.

Live fire exercises are dangerous but necessary. It ultimately saves lives. To put it in perspective, more military people are killed by auto accidents, then by live fire exercises.

As far as people being killed by friendly fire in actual combat; it happens in every war, to soldiers as well as civilians. War is organized chaos.

Yes, I notice this is happening alot.

They should add new restrictions to training missions if they want to keep their army alive.

Agree. They should use the same restrictions as the Vatican City Army and the Salvation Army. Good Armies I am telling you. Never killed one of their own! (except intentionally)

Wilbo 04-18-2002 04:43 AM

I heard on the news one day that 20% of all WWII
fatalities were from friendly fire.

capribex 04-18-2002 04:56 AM

This is actually true... Some of this was not errant at all... For instance, the British Navy sank (almost) the entire French fleet because they were affraid the Germans would use it after they concured France (which was a big few hours effort for them... so much for French nationalism and pride!)

roadtrip 04-18-2002 05:19 AM

They always send us in to do their recon.

Now we have to watch behind us as we're doing them
the favour of going in first? How did they confuse us
with our lack of camo uniforms?

12clicks 04-18-2002 05:23 AM

yeah, our troops should stay home and so should our money. that way the board morons here wouldn't have anything to complain about.:1orglaugh

dewpoint 04-18-2002 06:08 AM

My heart goes out to the families of our Canadian Soldiers.

Slick 04-18-2002 06:24 AM

Fuck, it's pretty sad when most of the casulties that happen to the U.S. and the allies come from friendly fire.

Thumbelina 04-18-2002 07:07 AM

What I want to know is, what is a F16 doing using a laserguided bomb during an ground Live fire excercise at night.

If it was laserguided it would have to have been targeted on the Canadian troops by a spoter on the ground?

I understand that this was in a friendly area and a designated training area.

Also was the F16 part of the training or just happened to be ''there" by chance?

Either way you dont drop a 500lbs bomb that close to the troops as an excercise.( I dont think the Taliban have this capability :ugone2far )

Yes but acording to reports the F16 wasn't part of the exercise has shouldn't have been in the area :(

the f16 wasn't part of the exercises... im wondering also.. it's actually pretty hard to drop bombs on an area already cleared as for allied use... hell most of the training facilities were cleared of al quaida use like a week before they were bombed several months ago..... although from what i hear the us army isn't the safest in the world... 2 died in training exercises west of rockhampton while they were over here for "training"last year or so..... most know the SAS and ghurkas is where it's at :)

capribex 04-18-2002 07:34 AM

faulty release mechanism?

anyway, just because CNN say it wasn't related to the scene doesn't mean anything to me. i would wait for the official result of the inquiry to know just what hapenned.

however, assuming the f-16 WAS part of that practise, then obviously they were practising close ground support, and the only way to practise this is... excersizing close ground support, which basically mean your jets will release live ordenance very very close to your troops at the front, in order to destroy close-by ground targets which may be a threat to them.

they practise such things because this is what actually they need to do in war! and the only way not to have accidents is not to practise.

shame? yes! fuck-up? yes! but this is an accident like many others happen when you practise for war and with live ammunition. at least the army is one body that does learn from its own mistakes.

Yes, you can count on the army for an objective report.

well, it's two inquiries: one by the americans and one by the canadians. i think, between them, they will be better informed than CNN... CNN has mis-reported, under-reported, ill-reported, and accidently reported much more times than the army killed 4 canadian soldiers. but when CNN fucks up you don't hear about it. when the army does so - people get killed.

i didn't say and i don't think the army is impartial or perfect. i said they will investogate for sure, and on many levels (air force, ground support, pentagon etc.) and they have a vested interest in this not hapenning again, so i do think this is as good inquiry as you will get anywhere.

quit whining like a bunch of girls.... what part of WAR is HELL dont you understand?

without military action, you'd all be dead or part of the master race throwin nazi heil hitler signs in the air all fucking day.... think how tired your arm would be right now? ( although some of your arms are pretty tired, and palms are hairy anyhow)

with war comes FF (friendly fire).... deal with it...

you can now go back to pushing buttons on your keyboard from the comfort of your own home now..... pussies

dewpoint 04-18-2002 11:16 AM

At times, war is necessary to ensure that the many good people in the world are allowed to live happy and productive lifes. But that does not make mourning for the lose of life a sign of "being a pussy". Come on Kman, show some respect.

The sad part of war is that it lets useless pieces of shit like Labret also live happy and (un)productive lives.

[Labret] 04-18-2002 11:19 AM

I just hope this is all part of a larger plan of taking over Canada.

I have my blueprints out for the concentration camp, errr I mean work camp, I am going to build in my back yard.

Labret, if you think this a personal attack, it is!! Yes I am Canadian. But that is irrevelant. From the frequency of your posts, I would say it is safe to assume that you spend most if not all of your time in front of your keyboard...being an angry young boy. Do yourself a favor, pull yourself away from the computer, walk out your door and go meet some real people. Only then will you find that there are it is not worth sitting alone at your home, hating all people around you. I feel sorry for you.

That's all the time I can justify spending on you, so don't expect any response beyond this post.

Shut up before I buy your house and bulldoze it into the earth.

Clarification...as you may have noted, I edited my post right after my initial post, and removed the reference to "laughed at in school". I was correct that this would be misinterpretted. From the way you talk, I assumed that you probably fancy yourself a neo nazi type... and yes, we did laugh at those funny little fellas in school...acting tough but too uneducated to realize that race or place of origin means absolutely nothing.

Ahh yes, the last bastion of the left. You dislike a different culture, then you must be a racist. More specifically, I must be a "neo nazi". Even scarier. Not your run of the mill backwoods redneck uneducated bigot... but a shaven head, jackboot wearing, methodical National Socialist. Nice work.

Want to know what is ironic?

http://www.detroithardcore.com/diploma.jpg

I have my Bachelor of Science in... guess what... Anthropology. Big word I know, but it means "The scientific study of the origin, the behavior, and the physical, social, and cultural development of humans".

Dont even begin to debate me or question my views on humans or any cultural heritage. I will bury you.... at the very least.

I dont like people because I study people.
Or because they are simpering lefty Canadian socialist faggots. (you).

I must say I find it amusing to read Labret threads..........it is intersting to see everyones reaction...

And if I am not mistaken He is getting a good laugh right about now........

He is what is called a emotional button depresser..........

The pure joy he receives comes strictly from the attention he receives.......be that negative or positive

The need to show someone up by displaying his many accomplishment reinforces this need.

I guess in one sense or another he is not complete.....

Mind you an Canadian invasion as in "Strange Brew" is in order.

Think of the most horrible thing I could possibly say to a biased admin with an itchy ban finger. And go out in style.

or

Restrain myself and be a little bitch before almighty Canadian GFY admin?

I'll think about it while I am in the shower...

Could it be because the USA has not been in a large scale war in a long time? I don't think Desert Storm counts as a large scale war.
