Guys and Gals.. i know that this came up sometime last yr

but it seems this guy has never stopped. He still hotlinks people's thumbnails and site for his ownself. I have just found him hotlinking some of my galleries.

Does anyone know who this guy is?... it seems 6 months on he is still at it.

Can someone please help me with a .htaccess config to prevent this from happening?

I got a response back from the webmaster a few moments ago... apparently "someone" must have submitted my gallery

If you have gallerys there, he will purge them from the DB and blackban them, if you dont want them there..

Which is good news ;)

I think legally it is on the edge:

He does not cleary display the URL of the original site.
He uses other peoples bandwidth without permission.

I guess he spiders galleries or do you think that 1174585 galleries are submitted by hand?

however I can't see how its legal if he doesn't have the webmasters approval...

All i need to do now is get that .htaccess working.. which it doesn't at the moment :)

If you have mod_rewrite on Apache installed you can block access from this domain.
(Not all browsers send Referer strings unfortunately, but
it should work for alot of them)

We have had a major problem with this guy at Matrix Content and have spoken to him on the phone to make it very clear we did not like the fact he was using our images that someone else is trying to make money with and not using any sort of license for using them on his site..

This is being handled by us for our content ...

If you need to do something about your gallery pages there is a way in apache httpd.conf file to disallow him from doing it..
