Here's an idea for GFY from me.
 

Every one loves gifts and accomplishments. I think it would be neat and also a great tool for GFY, to give out gifts (abilities) to do certain things when posters reach a certain post count. I remember when I first started posting on GFY, you had to have at least 100 (I think) posts before you could change your custom title. I worked diligently to get those posts JUST SO I could do something as meanlingless as change my custom title. WTF!

For instance, say you only give people with 1000 posts the ability to post pictures. The rest can't until they reach 1000 before they could post images. Something like that, maybe not as dramatic. Just a simple thing that seperates the people with high post counts from everyone else other than a different colored nickname.

Trust me, on a marketing angle, it works. Post count is one of the most talked about things on this board...why not capitalize on it? :thumbsup

I agree incentives of some sort are great, of course...but rewarding post counts with additional privileges tends to lead to a slew of useless posts just to get the count up (by useless I mean - more useless than usual, heh).

And that's any different to how things are now because.........

So suppose if you had uhm, 10,590 posts, what would that allow YOU to do? :winkwink:

It still amazes me how much importance everybody puts on post count. I mean its a fairly obvious assumption that if you've been posting for 6 months and have 2k posts you're not being very constructive with your work time and if you're doing it on the side after your work is complete then you're a loser.

what does my measely 5k get me?

And everyone wants something that makes them better than someone else. It's what creates competition.

Which is more important? Quality or Quantity!

Better idea: Ban The KlickRevenue whores as a first priority, then deal with incentives and cute little ideas.

great idea... to encourage more useless crap here than we already have...

if anything give privledges based on the content of posts, like people who start BUSINESS threads that become constructive and reaches 3 pages iinstead of a yet another flame war
